I had a million winter blankets to wash so I came to my favorite Hackettstown laundromat

I love this place not just because its quiet and clean, but because it's wonderful owners, Anna and Andrew are invested in our community. Months ago they reached out to me asking how they could help kids in our community. Together, we came up with the Laundromat Literacy program.

I'm thankful for this community connection and for people like Anna and Andrew that look for ways to make a real impact in our town.

You can be a kindergartner or 8th grade student- this game never fails. Extra points if you make a good *ZAP* sound.

We're always looking for good low-tech ways to practice those tricky irregular words. These are the words you just can't sound out. Think- could, was, is, done. We just have to practice reading and spelling these words as often as we can so we can get to mastery. How do you practice these types of words?

Many parents report feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to navigate IEPs, MTSS, and school systems. In New Jersey, the rising number of disputes shows just how urgently families need guidance and support.

This is exactly why Raising Hands Literacy Project exists. Our mission is to stand beside families, empower them with knowledge, and help ensure children don’t fall through the cracks.

Happy New Year from all of us at Raising Hands Literacy Project. ✨📚

As we step into a new year, we want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who supported us this past year — through donations, sharing our work, referring families, volunteering, and believing in our mission. Because of you, we’ve been able to support so many children and families and help open the door to stronger literacy foundations.

We’re incredibly grateful for our team, our community, and everyone who makes this work possible. Your support is what allows us to keep going — and to keep growing.
