🧻🧼 THE "YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL IT'S GONE" DRIVE 🧼🧻

Toilet paper, for instance. 😄

At Light of Hope Mississippi, we're launching a Paper Product & Cleaning Supply Drive to help keep our home stocked with the everyday essentials that disappear faster than we'd like.

🧻 Toilet Paper 🧻 Paper Towels 🤧 Tissues 🍽 Disposable Plates 🧻

🧺 Laundry Detergent/Dryer Sheets🧴 Dish Soap 🧼 All-Purpose Cleaners 🗑 Trash Bags 🧹 Cleaning Supplies

These things help us provide a clean, safe, stable home where women can focus on recovery and rebuilding their lives.

Because hope may be free.....but toilet paper, laundry soap, paper towels, and dish soap definitely aren't. 😅

If you'd like to support Light of Hope Mississippi, consider dropping off an item or two from our list. Every donation helps, and no contribution is too small. DM me for locations or for pick up.

Thank you for helping us keep our shelves stocked, our home clean, and our mission moving forward.

One of our past residents shared this...So true 🩷💯 The opposite of addiction is Connection.

An addict fell in a hole and couldn't get out.
A businessman went by.
The addict called out for help.
The businessman threw him some money and told him to buy a ladder.
But the addict could not find a ladder in this hole he was in.
A doctor walked by.
The addict said, "Help, I can't get out."
The doctor gave him some drugs and said,
"Take this, it will relieve the pain."
The addict said thanks, but when the pills ran out while he was still in the hole.
A renowned psychiatrist rode by and heard the addict's cries for help.
He stopped and said, "How did you get in there?
Were you born there? Did your parents put you there? Tell me about yourself, it will alleviate your sense of loneliness."
So the addict talked with him for an hour, then the psychiatrist had to leave, but he said he'd be back next week.
The addict thanked him, but was still in his hole. A priest came by and heard the addict calling for help.
The priest gave him a Bible and said, "I’ll pray for you.
The priest got down on his knees and prayed for the addict, then left.
The addict was very grateful and he read the whole Bible, but he was still stuck in that hole.
A recovering addict happened to be passing by. The addict cried out, "Hey, help me, l'm stuck in this hole."
Right away, the recovering addict jumped in the hole with him.
The addict said, "What are you doing? Now we're both stuck here."
But the recovering addict said, "It's okay, I've been here before, I know the way out."

The moral of the story is that empathy and shared experience can reach where education, money, or good intentions alone cannot.
The recovering addict could help because he understood the hole. Not from theory, but from lived experience.

The opposite of addiction is connection.

Go help someone and let’s keep trudging together!

Mother's day is a time of profound reflection and jubilant celebration at Light of Hope Mississippi. The ladies woke to uplifting scriptures, gorgeous flowers, heartwarming photos of their precious mini-me's, and empowering reminders that God will restore what we have lost, fueling our hope for a brighter future. Happy mother's day to all the incredible moms here on earth and in heaven. May your day be blessed and filled with love, gratitude, and joy. 🙏🩷🩵From all of us Moms

Janice Taylor Stewart, She joins us ladies every morning in our kitchen. We speak of her faith, her love for God, her family, and her love of people everyday. Ann Taylor is still my mentor, as I have not found one yet that has come close to what she helped me with. I miss our Tuesday luncheons every week and days when I want to give up, looking at her picture on the wall, reminds me of her words when I first started Light of Hope Mississippi. "Angela, God has given you a purpose with a calling." "It will not be easy, but you must stay faithful." "Let's Pray." Even in spirit, Ann is the reason Light of Hope Mississippi is still helping women seek God and find themselves. Happy Heavenly Birthday, my beautiful friend 🩷🙏

So, you finished rehab. You’re sober now. Living in a Sober Living house. Waking up early to catch the bus to a job that barely pays the bills. You’re splitting a fridge with three other addicts, listening to them fight over food or relapse excuses, trying to stay focused on your own lane — your own recovery.

You’re hitting your meetings. Six a week. You’re sitting in folding chairs under fluorescent lights, listening to other people’s pain, trying to believe that maybe… just maybe… one day, yours will turn into purpose too.

And I know there are nights when it doesn’t feel worth it. When you’re sitting on the edge of your bed staring at the same four walls, thinking, Is this really what I got sober for? When the silence gets so loud it starts screaming your name. When giving up feels easier than fighting through another day.

But let me tell you something — it takes a rare kind of strength to do what you’re doing.

Because anybody can self-destruct. Anybody can run. Anybody can hide behind a bottle, a pill, or a pipe. But it takes a fighter to start from scratch and rebuild their life one day at a time.

You’re not weak because it’s hard. You’re not broken because it hurts. You’re becoming. You’re laying the bricks for a life that’s going to mean something.

That bus you’re riding to that minimum wage job? That’s not humiliation — that’s humility. That’s faith in motion. Every mile is proof that you’re not who you used to be.

That sober house that smells like burnt ramen and resentment? That’s your launching pad. That’s where your comeback story is being written.

And those meetings you drag yourself to? Those are your classrooms — where pain turns into wisdom, and strangers turn into family.

Listen to me — what God is building in you right now, in this season that feels small and insignificant, is going to blow your mind when it unfolds. You’re not just surviving this chapter — you’re being prepared for the next one.

You might not see it yet, but you’re a walking miracle in progress. A warrior in transition. A Rockstar in recovery.

So don’t quit now. Not when you’ve already made it this far. The world hasn’t even seen what you’re capable of yet.

I see you.

I’m proud of you.

And I promise you — if you just keep going, it gets better.

Copy & Paste lets keep reaching. Inspiration can come simply with a post. ❤️🪶🐾👣🤎

We have been so busy at Light of Hope Mississippi, I hadn't realized we didn't share our Thanksgiving Day!! Thank you, Lee Parrish, for the third year of cooking for us women so that we could create wonderful memories, share our holiday traditions, and enjoy the holiday sober and together in God's love. We had a contest decorating Christmas trees, ate way too much, and talked about all the things we had to be grateful for this year!! We were so very blessed in so many ways. This year's feast was sponsored by Family Chiropractic in Gulfport! Scott and Traci Siler entered us for their Thanksgiving dinner giveaway and Light of Hope Ms was chosen as the winner!! It was wonderful to meet all the staff and as always, we are so very blessed to have Scott and Traci's support and love🙏🩵🩷. Words cannot describe our gratitude this Thanksgiving and we look forward to sharing the rest of the holiday season continuing to be a Light of Hope in the lives of women in our community!
