💡 Eat the meat, spit out the bones! 🍖

Our last SHRM Gulf Coast chapter meeting with Dr. Jacob Breland was a masterclass in breaking down the "noise" around workplace feedback. We talked about shedding our "armor," ditching those blanket office emails (it's time to get direct, y'all! 😉), and realizing that even if the delivery isn't perfect, there is almost always a signal worth hearing inside the noise.
The biggest takeaway? Feedback isn't an attack - it's the tool that fixes what we don't know is broken!

Missed out on the discussion? Don't worry, we're doing it all again next month! 👇
🗓️ Save the Date: Thursday, July 9th
⏰ Time: 7:30 AM
📍 Where: The Swetman Building in Biloxi
🎙️ Guest Speaker: Morgan Shiyou with The Salvation Army Kroc Center

Set those alarms, grab your morning coffee, and come ready to connect and grow with the best HR crew on the Coast! See you there! ☕️✨

Memorial Day is a time to honor those who gave everything in service to others.

But remembrance is more than reflection. It’s also about how we continue to support military-connected workers, including veterans and their families in the workplace every day.

For many, the impact of service lasts a lifetime. Organizations have the opportunity to create environments rooted in understanding, opportunity, and meaningful support that extends far beyond a single moment of recognition.

By supporting those who carry the legacy of service, we honor those we’ve lost.

Last Thursday, May 14th, SHRM Gulf Coast had the opportunity to hear from Rene Davis with the Gulf Coast Center of Nonviolence on the topic of Green Dot Bystander Intervention. Rene shared the importance of filling the world with more “green dots” by taking action and speaking up when we see situations that may require intervention. Whether that means creating a distraction, pulling out your phone to document a situation, or calling 911 — every action matters. If you see something, say something. 💚

A special thank you to our meeting sponsor, Corry Cooley with Cooley Financial Group. If you have employees needing assistance with Medicare guidance or support, Corry is a great resource. His office is located at 2408 14th St., Gulfport, MS 39503, and he can be reached at 228-256-2544📞

We’d also like to thank our annual sponsor, Sugaring NYC, for always showing up and supporting SHRM Gulf Coast!🍯

‼️‼️Location Change‼️‼️ Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 11th, and will be held at Singing River Health Systems in Gulfport. Please note this is a temporary location change for the June meeting only — additional details will be shared soon, so stay tuned!
