Every spring, we welcome a crew on the Grove City Area United Way Day of Caring and this year there were over 65 helpers! Such hard workers too!
We'd never be able to keep up with the manual labor projects without our community and Grove City College student help!

This past winter did a number on the main beds and all 24 were in a state of disrepair. Fortunately, we received generous funding from the Community Foundation of Grove City to begin replacing the beds!
All broken beds are out and we are ready to build! Come out on Saturday April 19 starting at 9am and help us install new ones! No skills necessary.

So where is the Grove City Community Garden??
The garden is at the middle school in Grove City Area School District, opposite from the Grove City YMCA. We have 36 long beds to plant each year, in addition to raspberries, rhubarb, asparagus, strawberries, apple trees, herbs and some brand new blueberry bushes!
We also donate produce to the residents of College View Towers.

So how does the Grove City Community Garden work?
Some community gardens require members to adopt specific beds and then plant and tend to their own beds. Some gardens have fees or a minimum number of volunteer hours to reap the benefits. We are a free, low-commitment group that asks for your sweat equity in exchange for some healthy fruit, veggies, herbs and flowers.
In order to accomplish bigger projects like the fence or spreading yards of wood chips, we partner with All Good Things Thrift Shoppe, Monster Tree Service of North Pittsburgh and volunteers from Grove City College, among others.
We'd love to have you out to the garden to meet our crew and learn more!

This summer has been productive at the Community Garden! And pretty soon, we will have more beans than we can possibly eat!

Want to enjoy some organic and tasty green, yellow or purple beans? Join us on a Saturday morning to w**d and work and we will be happy to share the harvest with you!

As we get closer to the start of the school year at Grove City Area School District, we are wrapping up the amazing new gate and fence! Years of work have gone into this project, with funding from generous sources and hard work digging into what appeared to be a sea of rocks below. We are excited to see the light at the end of this long tunnel!

In the spring, some kind people built us several pyramids for new strawberry plants. After many years of fighting w**ds and soggy soil, the strawberries are now thriving. Look at all these beauties! In August!

Our group of garden members is small but mighty... and we'd love if you joined us! No long-term commitment required, no gardening skills necessary, no membership fee. Just a willingness to join in on work days or other tasks and a desire for healthy produce!
