On Tuesday, the Hays County Commissioners Court voted 3-1 to deny a proposed development agreement tied to the controversial Hays Commons project, located almost entirely on the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone.

The debate over Hays Commons has stretched on for years, drawing significant attention from residents in both Hays and Travis counties. Milestone has stated that if the agreement was denied, it could still pursue development under existing county rules. However, this vote is a much deserved victory by Hays Residents For Land And Water Protection, and GEAA is beyond grateful to all our members and partners who helped make this happen!

Randy Neumann, chair of the Scenic Loop-Helotes Creek Alliance, asked committee members to delay action and investigate what he described as unresolved questions.

“You understand the direction of public concern,” Neumann told the committee. “You understand that scientists believe this development may affect the water quality of 2.5 million residents across eight counties, including perhaps yourself.

We’re only asking that you follow the SEPHCP’s own rules.”Neumann told KSAT that legal action remains a possibility in the future if the Scenic Loop-Helotes Creek Alliance believes environmental protections are not being properly followed by the Southern Edwards Plateau Habitat Conservation Plan Coordinating Committee.

Today, the Scenic Loop–Helotes Creek Alliance is at the SEP-HCP Coordinating Committee meeting in downtown San Antonio opposing Lennar’s request for additional mitigation approval at Guajolote Ranch.

Significant questions remain regarding compliance with federal endangered species protections, the validity of the environmental baseline used for project approvals, the adequacy of biological surveys, and whether previous clearing activities were properly covered under required permits.

These issues should be fully resolved before any additional habitat impacts are authorized.

The Southern Edwards Plateau Habitat Conservation Plan (SEP-HCP) is intended to balance development with protection of endangered species.

Because the SEP-HCP operates under a federal Incidental Take Permit, it has an obligation to ensure that participating projects comply with its conservation requirements and applicable federal law before additional habitat destruction is approved.

Just when you thought Lennar Homes got the message when the City Council voted 11-0 against their request for a Municipal Utility District
(MUD),

they’ve returned to ask for help again.

Maybe “NO” is an alien concept to Lennar.

Scan the QR code and urge the Mayor and City Council to VOTE NO AGAIN ON LENNAR’S MUD REQUEST.

Don’t forget … A MUD takes away any power for oversight on any project within the MUD. The wastewater plant operations would be totally non transparent… and with 2.5 million lives depending on the recharge zone for clean water … we can’t risk that

Another defeat would be out of this world!

And San Antonio and considering a proposal soon to let them build and control a wastewater plant to dump 1-4 million gallons of treated sewage over our drinking water recharge zones for 2.5 million lives

Trust is not science and science says it’s a bad idea

Bexar County Fire Marshall Office , Bexar County Commissioners and TCEQ must stop this now!

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Far West Side residents have been living in the Morgan Heights subdivision for roughly a year now, but their backyards look like a construction site.
That’s because residents said runoff water gushes into their backyard anytime it rains.

“There’s no stopping that wall of water when it comes down this hill,” resident Ryan Gooch said. “It just comes straight down and washes everything in its path.”
