Wonder Around the Dinner Table 🍎📚

Back-to-school learning can be a joyful experience shared with your child, full of connection, curiosity, and fun! The Playful Pelican invites you to bring learning to the place where families already gather: the dinner table.

Our Wonder Around the Dinner Table activities are designed for children from preschool through 2nd grade and make it easy to extend learning at home while spending meaningful time together.

These meaningful activities allow you to:
✨ Check in with your child and see their learning progression
✨ Create joyful, positive experiences around learning
✨ Practice important skills through simple games and activities
✨ Build connection, conversation, and community around the dinner table

Our Wonder Around the Dinner Table activities are based on the Louisiana State Standards and are designed to help children practice the skills they need while giving families a fun way to learn and bond together.

Back to School for Our Board Members, Too!

Today, we’re celebrating one of our amazing board members as he begins an exciting new chapter: his first day of law school! ️

At The Playful Pelican, we believe being a learner is something to celebrate at every age. We’re cheering you on and wishing you an incredible first day!

And one day, we hope The Playful Pelican PlayLab will give children opportunities to discover different careers, explore the world of work, and dream big about their own futures.

Happy Back-to-School Week from The Playful Pelican!

As a new school year begins, we’re celebrating the power of learning, the joy of play, and all those little moments that make childhood special. A new book, a curious question, a family game, a “look what I made!” moment. These are the moments that inspire young minds and create lasting memories.
And this week, we have something extra special to celebrate… The Playful Pelican is ONE! 🎉🎂

For the past year, we’ve been working to bring a children’s museum to the Westbank community, a place where children and families can Think, Dream, Explore, and Play together! While we continue working toward our permanent home, we’re proud to be bringing playful learning experiences to families across the West Bank and beyond through our pop-up events and community programs.

💙 We’d love for you to celebrate this milestone with us!

We're excited to be part of the LCMC Boogaloo Back-to-School Giveaway at Joe Brown Park in New Orleans East tomorrow, August 1, 2026, from 10AM to 1PM!

A heartfelt thank you to our generous donor, Denet Towing Service, Inc., for making it possible for us to hand out reusable water bottles and fun water bottle stickers to help families get ready for the new school year.

Stop by The Playful Pelican PlayLab booth, say hello, and pick up your back-to-school goodies while supplies last. We can't wait to celebrate with our community and wish students a wonderful start to the school year!

What a wonderful evening celebrating our community! 💙
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us Friday night for our Back-to-School Pop-Up at Stonebridge Golf Club. We loved meeting so many new families, sharing stories together, and celebrating the excitement of a brand-new school year.
Children went home with a bag filled with school supplies, a brand-new book to inspire a love of reading, and a special first-day-of-school picture frame to capture memories they'll treasure for years to come. Seeing so many smiles, laughter, and families connecting reminded us why we do what we do.

A very special thank you to Jefferson Parish District 1 Councilman Tim Kerner Jr. for making this event possible. Your support helped provide these supplies to children in our community and gave families a fun evening to learn, play, and celebrate together. Your kindness is helping young learners start the school year with confidence and excitement.

Thank you to everyone who came out. We can't wait to see you at our next Playful Pelican PlayLab pop-up! 💙📚✏️
