AWAP formed in 2003 as a nonprofit organization committed to the task of creating positive social change through community organizing around issues of education (political and social), racism, economics, social justice, and the environment. For us the community organizing process involves truth telling, leadership development, cultural awareness, and justice advocacy among other things. AWAP is op

en to all grassroots people (meaning we believe in leadership from the bottom up and in individuals participating in making decisions that affect their lives) and groups who are working to help themselves, help their own communities, and help others like themselves through education and self-empowering community organizing efforts!
