Today Field Friends had our first mentored hunt of hopefully many to come. We started at approximately 1 pm today and concluded at 6:15. Our mentee Nathan Melius and myself had some great conversations in the blind. After 4 hrs of sitting in the blind we finally had four big doe come rolling in. Seeing Nathan's face light up when the deer were standing 25 yards in front of the blind was worth every second of today's hunt. Trying to keep them from blowing out of there, we had to wait until they were 150 yards out. Nathan did get a shot but unfortunately wasnt able to connect. ( maybe a little doe fever was to blame) None the less it was an great afternoon with Nathan and we are looking forward to having him back again later this week to see if we cant get a doe on the ground for him!! We have three young hunters signed up and ready to take to the fields over the next couple months and see if we can help them put their first deer on the ground!! We are very excited to give back to our youth with this opportunity and hope to grow these events and provide more hunts.

All, this fall I would like to offer a hunting opportunity to youth in our area. I would like to find a few kids between the ages of 10-15 who normally dont have the resources to do some hunting. I am looking to give some kids the chance to shoot a doe, possibly a turkey if some would rather do that. I have everything your child would need to complete the hunt. They would just have to purchase the tag ( which i can walk them threw). I would help them with dressing the animal. Any processing would be their responsibility. Im sure I won't be able to fulfill everyone's request of wanting to go but I would like to get something like this started and hope it grows. Please send me a personal message if you think your child would be interested in this opportunity.
