Greenwood-Itta Bena Alumnae Chapter recently held Beyond Borders: Breast Cancer Awareness for Every Woman, Everywhere on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University. What an amazing afternoon of awareness, education, unity, and sisterhood!

The event proudly brought together several of its committees—Arts & Letters, Social Action, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Youth Initiatives—for a meaningful collaboration centered on breast cancer awareness across the globe.

Each committee represented a different country, highlighting the impact of breast cancer, the challenges women face, and the importance of awareness, education, and early detection around the world.

This event served as a powerful reminder that while our countries, cultures, and experiences may differ, breast cancer knows no borders.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! We extend a special thank you to the courageous breast cancer survivors who shared their personal journeys during our fireside chat. Your strength, resilience, and willingness to share your stories touched hearts, inspired hope, and reminded us why awareness and early detection matter so much. We are truly grateful to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to this meaningful occasion.

Most importantly, we hope everyone left with a greater understanding that awareness is only the beginning. It is what we do with that awareness that truly makes a difference!

Different Countries. One Mission. One Voice. One Hope.

Beyond Borders, United Against Breast Cancer!

Delta Sigma Theta is continually anchored in the legacy of our sisterhood. We derive our collective strength from the sorors who have come before us and laid the groundwork for the organization we know today. We invite you to join us in uplifting and celebrating our centennial sorors who have reached the beautiful age of 100 years and beyond! We value their stories, wisdom, experiences, and sustained dedication to our Sorority.

🔺This week, we are recognizing Soror Grace Toler.

Soror Grace Toler was initiated in 1945. She is currently a member of the Washington DC Alumnae Chapter. Her favorite Delta memory is attending the Centennial celebration of Delta Sigma Theta and visiting Howard University’s campus. “The large crowds and seeing red everywhere were one of my most memorable memories being a Delta. It’s the sisterhood.”

As we spotlight them, comment a few words of sisterhood, love, and appreciation. It is imperative that we pay homage and illuminate the legacies they continue to create!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, honor survivors, and reaffirm our collective responsibility to create safer communities for all.

Through Delta Sigma Theta’s commitment to public service and social action, we can help break the silence surrounding domestic violence, challenge harmful misconceptions, and connect survivors with resources and support.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, confidential support is available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233). You can also text BEGIN to 88788 or visit thehotline.org.

Believe survivors. Know the signs. Share resources. Stand against abuse. 💜

Girls everywhere are born with the inherent right to grow up in a world where their dreams and well-being are prioritized. This International Day of the Girl Child, Delta Sigma Theta is uplifting the charge to invest in girls’ rights and end child marriage.

According to UNICEF, every three seconds, a girl gets married somewhere in the world.

Delta Sigma Theta is commited to raising awareness of this prevalent issue and protecting girls around the world. Thank you to our National International Awareness and Involvement Subcommittee for their leadership and diligence toward the freedom of all girls.
