World Lupus Day is May 10. Today, we join communities across the world in raising awareness and standing with everyone affected by lupus. Caregivers deserve recognition too. Behind many lupus warriors are family members, friends, partners, and loved ones who offer rides, meals, prayers, advocacy, and steady support. Today, the DeCoteau Foundation says thank you to the caregivers who help carry the weight with love. If a caregiver has made a difference in your life, honor them in the comments.

Today’s reminder is simple: rest is not weakness. Many people living with lupus must manage their energy carefully, especially during flares. Support can look like patience, flexibility, a meal, a ride, a check-in, or simply understanding when someone needs to cancel plans. This Lupus Awareness Month, let us normalize compassion. Tag someone who always shows up with kindness.

Lupus does not affect everyone the same way. It can involve the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood, and other parts of the body. That is one reason awareness matters: the more people understand lupus, the easier it becomes to respond with empathy instead of assumptions.
