World Lupus Day is May 10. Today, we join communities across the world in raising awareness and standing with everyone affected by lupus. Wear purple, share a lupus fact, check on a lupus warrior, or make a gift to support awareness and advocacy. Small actions can help make a big impact when we take them together. Help us make lupus visible today.

Caregivers deserve recognition too. Behind many lupus warriors are family members, friends, partners, and loved ones who offer rides, meals, prayers, advocacy, and steady support. Today, the DeCoteau Foundation says thank you to the caregivers who help carry the weight with love. If a caregiver has made a difference in your life, honor them in the comments.

Today’s reminder is simple: rest is not weakness. Many people living with lupus must manage their energy carefully, especially during flares. Support can look like patience, flexibility, a meal, a ride, a check-in, or simply understanding when someone needs to cancel plans. This Lupus Awareness Month, let us normalize compassion. Tag someone who always shows up with kindness.

Lupus does not affect everyone the same way. It can involve the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood, and other parts of the body. That is one reason awareness matters: the more people understand lupus, the easier it becomes to respond with empathy instead of assumptions. Help us educate our community by sharing this post and encouraging others to learn the signs and symptoms.

Behind every lupus journey is a story of courage. Some days may bring progress, and other days may bring pain, uncertainty, or rest. The DeCoteau Foundation honors the strength of every person living with lupus and every caregiver walking beside them. Today, we invite you to leave a message of encouragement for lupus warriors in our community. Your words may be exactly what someone needs to read.

A lupus fact worth sharing: the Lupus Foundation of America estimates that 1.5 million Americans and at least 5 million people worldwide are living with a form of lupus. These numbers represent real people, families, caregivers, and communities. Awareness helps turn statistics into action. Today, help us spread one fact, start one conversation, and encourage one person to learn more.

Lupus is often called an invisible illness because someone may look fine while fighting symptoms that are very real. Fatigue, joint pain, rashes, organ involvement, and flare-ups can affect daily life in ways others may not understand. This month, let us lead with compassion. If someone tells you they are struggling, believe them, support them, and remind them they are seen. Share this message to help make invisible illness visible.

Today we remember that awareness is more than a post. It is a way of showing up for people who live with pain, fatigue, uncertainty, and strength that others may never see. The DeCoteau Foundation stands with individuals and families affected by lupus, and we invite our community to stand with us. If you are able, consider supporting our mission through a donation, a share, or a conversation that helps someone learn more about lupus.

💜 May 1 Lupus Awareness Month Begins 💜

Today we step into a month that means so much.

May is Lupus Awareness Month, a time to uplift, educate, and stand in support of those living with this often invisible disease. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own tissues, impacting millions of people and changing lives in ways many never see.

This month is about making lupus visible…
Visible in our conversations.
Visible in our communities.
Visible in our hearts.

In honor of those fighting, those supporting, and those we’ve lost we continue the work.

💜 You can help us make an impact by supporting the mission of the DeCoteau Foundation. Every donation fuels awareness, advocacy, and hope.

Let’s show up with intention all month long.
Let’s wear purple.
Let’s speak up.
Let’s give.

Because awareness leads to action… and action leads to change. 💜
