Governor Henry McMaster is preparing to call the General Assembly back into special session to redraw South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District after previously saying he wouldn’t. Carving Black voters out of SC-6 is wrong, plain and simple.

Richland County leaders are asking people across South Carolina to stand in solidarity with our Black community.

They're urging supporters to pause nonessential spending:
• Electronics
• Clothing
• Home goods
• Seasonal and impulse purchases

They're also asking supporters to:
• Boycott college sports, including SEC games and state university athletics
• Stop buying tickets to concerts, festivals, and major corporate-sponsored events tied to silence on this issue
• Support HBCUs, including South Carolina State University and Voorhees University

Economic pressure has always been a tool for social change.

We must speak in dollars.

The final days of the 2026 SC Legislative Session are here (ending May 14). There’s still time to pass H. 4270, a bill that aims to remove/seal eviction records after 5 years from the public index so they don’t follow South Carolinians for life.

Last Thursday, its second reading received a vote of 77 to 23 — with heavy bipartisan support. It now needs a third reading in the Senate without amendment to move forward.

Take a minute today and contact your Senator and urge them to support H. 4270.
