Hopefully everyone made it through the storms this morning. The TCARA did sustain some storm damage, however. Several of us noticed after the storm that we couldn't bring up the 146.790 repeater.
I immediately began to run through possibilities in my head of what the issue could be. Maybe it's antenna and feedline related, or maybe it was power related. When I was heading home for lunch, I made a trip by the Sheriff's Office. I was able to bring up the repeater from close by.
As I got closer, my stomach dropped as I saw a chunk of feedline flapping in the breeze. This, plus almost no range on the repeater at all tells me that it's likely ours.
Over the past couple of years, our noise issues have varied so widely that it's been hard to make a solid determination on the cause. As of this morning, it's my guess that we're looking at a feedline repair, or a whole new run of 1/2 inch heliax.
I'm told someone will possibly be there on Friday about a light repair. Hopefully I can join in on that meeting. More info to follow, but for now the main thing is that our 146.790 repeater is off the air until repaired.
Even though the repeater is off, I'll still leave the other link functions on, since they're not directly connected to the repeater. The links should all talk to each other if anyone would like to use them.
