Alumni Spotlight: Deputy Jordan Stevenson
“In a single second, life can change forever.”
Due to the heroic actions of Deputy Jordan Stevenson (’22, Criminal Justice) and Deputy Connor O’Shields of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, a young girl was rescued after she fell into a swimming pool and stopped breathing. The dramatic video footage highlights the critical role first responders play in our communities. We are grateful God used these officers’ training to prevent a tragic outcome and give this child a second chance at life.
Lance Crowe, BJU Criminal Justice faculty and former Travelers Rest police chief, said, “Professor Davis and I extend our highest praise to both these deputies for their quick thinking and decisive action that saved this baby’s life, and we’re incredibly humbled to have spent time with Jordan in his years in the Criminal Justice program that helped prepare him for this day.”
