The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday was a day on, not a day off for the BLS Charitable Foundation Board and our Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Sorors and Rhoer at Book Harvest's Dream Big event. For the fifteenth year, Book Harvest asked the community to donate children's books from December 1 until January 31. Their final tally came in at midnight yesterday, and a total of 67,220 books were donated!

On MLK Monday, our team helped to review, sort, and pack hundreds of books that were received on site at Boxyard RTP. It was a perfect way to give back to our community and make a difference, like Dr. King.

Young ladies graduating from high school in Wake County who plan to attend a four-year college/university or community college in Fall 2026 are eligible for the scholarship.

Paint kits cost $45 (plus tax) and include a presketched 11x14 canvas, paint, brushes, and apron—everything you need for an afternoon of fun at home. Just add your favorite winter libation!

No artistic experience required. All items will be shipped directly to your home. There will be lots of laughs and fun, so bring your creativity and humor.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the BLS Charitable Foundation to fund their ongoing efforts to support the women and children of Wake County.
