Greetings,

On Monday, the Washington Chapter received several calls concerning the death of Mr. Trey Reed, a Delta State University student who was allegedly found hanging from a tree on the campus. This incident has sent shock waves throughout the state of Mississippi and the nation.

The Washington County Chapter has been in contact with several other organizations and we are all saddened by this incident. We are making every effort to answer the call to action, in seeking answers for full transparency and a thorough investigation into Mr. Reed's death.

After making contact with Mr. Reed's family through a new member of the NAACP we will accept the coroner's official report at this time. We will also honor the family's wishes to allow them this time to grieve. We sent our deepest condolences and we are praying for their peace, strength and comfort during this time of bereavement.

If there is any information that is forthcoming that suggest foul play we will be here for Mr. Reed's family and to make sure those responsible for Reed's death are brought to justice.

How can anyone go and tell them without being sent? NLT

And how can one advocate for the people without feeling their struggle, and how can one be the voice for the people without knowing, understand and speaking our language? TLP
