🐾 Why Adopt a Senior Dog Like Lady? 🐾

We understand that one of the biggest concerns people have about adopting a senior dog is the potential cost of veterinary care. It’s a valid concern, and one we recognize completely.

That’s why Lady is part of our Forever Foster Program.

Lady is a wonderful 10-year-old Husky who is healthy, happy, and has no known major medical issues. However, because she is a senior, we want to make it easier for the right family to open their hearts and home to her.

Through our Forever Foster Program, major medical expenses will be covered by the rescue for the rest of Lady’s life. Her family would only be responsible for routine wellness care, such as annual exams, vaccinations, and preventative care.

This program allows you to enjoy all the incredible benefits of sharing your life with a senior dog without carrying the burden of unexpected major veterinary costs.

And trust us—senior dogs have so much to offer!

At just 6 months old, Viola is the perfect combination of smart, playful, and loving. This sweet girl loves puzzles, walks, learning new tricks, and playing with her favorite toys. She’s always ready for an adventure and is eager to learn.

While Viola can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up with patience and kindness. She would do especially well in a home with a confident dog who can help show her the world is a fun and safe place.

When she’s not busy exploring or playing, Viola’s favorite thing is snuggling up close, melting into your lap, and chatting with you in her own adorable way.

🐾 "Why not me?" 🐾

Every week, we celebrate adoptions. But every week, the same handful of dogs sit in their kennels or foster homes, wondering when it’s their turn. They see the leashes come out, they see the cars pull up, and they wait. 😢

‼️We are making a desperate plea for our long-term residents. To help open doors for them, we are significantly REDUCING their ADOPTION FEES! ‼️

Some of these pups require a home where they can be the only pet. Somewhere along the way, the rescue world labeled "only pet" as a negative thing—but it isn't. These dogs are fiercely loyal, incredibly affectionate, and ready to be your absolute best friend, your shadow, and your protector. They don't need a pack; they just need their human. 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️

If you have a pet-free home, or want a loyal companion - you are the exact miracle these dogs are praying for. Please don't let them keep waiting.

💜💜FOREVER FOSTER PUPS: Even though you adopt, your pup will be a “forever foster” with us. This means that if any major medical arises, the rescue will cover it! Please know that adopters are responsible for routine vet things such as wellness visits, vaccinations, preventatives, etc.

Some dogs come into our lives for a reason, and Sheba is one of them.

This beautiful girl, who may be a Catahoula mix, has a stunning mocha merle coat that turns heads everywhere she goes. But it’s her heart that truly makes her special.

When Sheba came to the shelter pregnant, she prematurely delivered ten puppies. Tragically, none survived. While grieving the loss of her own babies, Sheba was given a second chance to be a mom when four orphaned puppies desperately needed her.

Without hesitation, she stepped in and lovingly raised Crystal’s puppies as her own. She nurtured them, protected them, and gave them the comfort only a mother can provide. She was exactly what they needed during one of the most difficult moments imaginable.

Now it’s Sheba’s turn to be cared for. She is gentle, loving, resilient, and proof that even after heartbreak, there is still room for love.

Sheba isn’t just a rescue dog—she’s a hero, a survivor, and the reason four puppies got the chance to grow up.

SPECIAL PUPPIES! Looking for an adopter or foster so they can leave the WV shelter this Saturday! 🐾

Cody, Chris, Coryn and Crystal

These four puppies are incredibly special to shelter staff and represent a story of love, resilience, and hope.

Their mom, Crystal, came to our partnering shelter as an emaciated, pregnant dog rescued from the county shelter. Just two days after arriving, on March 5th, she gave birth to four beautiful puppies. At first, everything seemed fine, but staff soon realized Crystal wasn't acting like herself. They rushed her to the emergency veterinarian, where she underwent an emergency C-section and spay. Tragically, three deceased puppies were found trapped inside her.

Crystal fought through surgery like a champion and spent her days showering her four surviving puppies with love. Then, only 10 days later, the shelter staffs hearts were broken when they lost her. Veterinarians determined she likely suffered from a blood clotting disorder.

Around the same time, they had rescued another pregnant dog from the county shelter. She prematurely delivered ten puppies, and sadly none survived. In an incredible act of love, she became the surrogate mother to Crystal's four babies. Her name is Sheba, and she truly was a gift when these puppies needed one most.

Today, Crystal's puppies are thriving. They have received two rounds of 5-way vaccines, have been dewormed, and are healthy, happy, and ready to begin the next chapter of their lives. These sweet pit bull puppies each have names that begin with "C" in honor of their beloved mother.

Hi! I’m Deuce 🖤

I’m a 4-year-old, 40-pound mixed breed guy with a big heart and an even bigger love for snuggles. After spending a long time in the shelter, I’m finally learning how great the good life can be.

I’m a sweet, affectionate boy who loves being close to my people—whether we’re relaxing on the couch or just hanging out. I have a calm, gentle personality, but I still enjoy playtime and chewing on my favorite bones.

I get along great with my foster dog brothers and enjoy having furry friends around. I also love being outside, especially lounging in the grass and soaking up the fresh air. Cats? I’m not sure yet!

I’m just looking for a loving home where I can finally settle in and be part of a family.

Meet Lady 🐾

Lady is a 10-year-old Husky mix with a heart full of love and a gentle, happy spirit. Despite being a senior, she still has a bright personality and truly enjoys life—especially when she’s surrounded by people. Lady absolutely thrives on attention and will happily soak up all the pets, cuddles, and companionship you can give.

She is wonderful with kids and would make a loyal, affectionate addition to a family looking for a calm, loving companion. Lady is house trained and has great manners in the home, making her an easy fit for someone ready to open their heart to a sweet senior.

Lady would do best in a home with a calm dog who matches her laid-back energy or just having her humans all to herself. She loves food so much she'll need to be kept separate while preparing and eating from other animals.

She also enjoying playing with so many toys! Sometimes she doesn't like to share and would need to be supervised if other pets are around.

🐾 Meet Chance – Your Loyal Best Friend Awaits 🐾

Chance is a handsome 4-year-old Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix with a heart as big as his fluffy paws. This sweet boy was once an emotional support animal and provided comfort and companionship to his owner. Sadly, when life circumstances changed and housebreaking became a challenge after a move, Chance found himself in need of a new beginning.

While Chance can be a little cautious around some men and people wearing hats or sunglasses, he has been a wonderful guest at the shelter and has caused no issues. Once he feels comfortable, his gentle and loving personality shines through.

Chance currently shares a kennel with Ginger, a dog known for being selective about her canine companions, and the two have become great friends. They play together and enjoy each other’s company, which speaks volumes about Chance’s easygoing nature. He is also reported to do well with cats and children.

This big, fluffy sweetheart is looking for a patient family willing to give him the time and understanding he needs to settle in and trust as well as working on house/potty training. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who will reward your kindness with unconditional love, devotion, and plenty of cuddles.
