🛍️ Greenfield's city-wide garage sale is tomorrow! It's a wonderful day to explore your neighborhood and support your community.

A friendly reminder from your Neighborhood Watch: big community events can also bring unfamiliar traffic through our streets. Keep your eyes open, look out for your neighbors, and if you see something be sure to say something.

📋 Greenfield Police — May 2026 Calls for Service
Chief Tim Larkin and the Greenfield Police Department have released their monthly activity report, and we wanted to make sure our Neighborhood Watch community sees it!
In May, our officers responded to 130 calls for service — and the numbers tell a great story about what an active, engaged community looks like in action.
A few highlights worth noting:
🔍 24 investigations or officer-initiated calls — your department is proactive, not just reactive.
🚨 3 suspicious activity calls — keep those eyes open and keep reporting what doesn't look right.
🤝 23 citizen contacts not through dispatch — that's neighbors and officers building real relationships.
📋 13 reports taken and 7 citations or warnings issued — accountability at work.
This is exactly the kind of transparency that makes Greenfield a community worth protecting. We're proud to stand alongside Chief Larkin and our officers in keeping this town safe.
👀 See something? Say something. Call Dade County 911 or contact the Greenfield Police Department directly at 417-637-2834.
Your Neighborhood Watch is watching — so our officers don't have to do it alone.

DADE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARREST REPORT

On June 3, 2026, deputies with the Dade County Sheriff's Office arrested Billy Lewis of Everton, Missouri, for Failing to Register as a S*x Offender pursuant to Missouri Revised Statutes §§ 589.400–589.425.

On June 4, 2026, a no-bond warrant was issued for Lewis on the same charge.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is entitled to a fair trial where guilt or innocence will be determined by the judicial process.

The Dade County Sheriff's Office remains committed to enforcing Missouri's s*x offender registration laws. These requirements exist to help protect our communities and ensure accountability. We encourage citizens to remain vigilant, stay informed, and report any suspicious activity or information regarding criminal violations to law enforcement. The safety of Dade County residents continues to be our highest priority.

The city pool is officially open for the season and that's great news for all of us! 🏊

As our kids and families start making their way to the pool, here are a few reminders to help keep the season fun and safe:

👀 SUPERVISION MATTERS:
If you have young children at the pool, keep eyes on them at all times.

🤝 USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM:
Encourage your kids to always go with a friend, whether they're walking, biking, or swimming. No one should be heading out alone.

🌙 AFTER HOURS:
The pool has posted hours for a reason. After-hours access is trespassing, and as your neighborhood watch, we will be keeping an eye on public spaces after dark. Let's keep it fun for everyone by respecting the rules.

Here's to a safe and enjoyable pool season, Greenfield! ☀️

Hope everyone came through today's storms safe and dry! We had some serious weather roll through with heavy rain, flooding, and those wind gusts were no joke.
If you're out and about, keep an eye out for downed limbs, standing water on roads, and any property damage in the area. If you spot anything that needs attention such as downed power lines, road hazards, that kind of thing — report it to the appropriate authorities and feel free to drop it in the comments so neighbors can stay informed.
We're right in the middle of storm season, so let's stay weather-aware. Make sure you have a way to receive emergency alerts on your phone, and if you haven't already, it's worth taking a few minutes to think through your household plan for severe weather.

Stay safe out there, Greenfield. ⛈️

Greenfield Police Department Officially Receives Missouri Blue Shield Designation

Greenfield – Today, Greenfield Police Department received official word from the Missouri Department of Public Safety that we have earned the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026. This honor recognizes Missouri communities that demonstrate their commitment to enhancing public safety, investing in and supporting law enforcement and building partnerships between law enforcement and our community.
The Missouri Blue Shield Program was created by Governor Kehoe in January 2025 through Executive Order 25-03. In 2025, 201 Missouri communities earned the Blue Shield designation, recognizing local governments’ significant efforts to reduce crime and foster law enforcement – community partnerships to strengethen public safety. The opportunity to earn the Blue Shield designation for 2026 opened on February 4, 2026. Communities that earned the Blue Shield designation in 2025 had to reapply this year to be approved once again.
“The Blue Shield program has shown what’s possible when communities commit to prioritizing law enforcement and public safety,” Governor Kehoe said. “After awarding $50,000 grants to more than 200 communities last year, we’re continuing that work by welcoming new communities and renewing Blue Shield designations for counties, towns, and cities that remain committed to the program.”
“Strengthening public safety and committing to joint law enforcement community – citizen safety efforts is what the Blue Shield Program is all about and the Department of Public Safety is honored to work with communities like Greenfield Police Department, that have answered the Blue Shield challenge,” said Mark James, Director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS). “Last year, the essential equipment provided by Blue Shield grants included 388 mobile data terminals, 351 body cameras, 151 license plate readers (LPR), 102 ballistic vests, 91 interoperable radios and 56 vehicles. We look forward to getting additional important equipment and training to our partners in local law enforcement.”
Eligibility and Program Details
Communities are eligible for a Missouri Blue Shield designation based on their dedication to reducing crime, making substantial investments in public safety, and developing strong collaboration with law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders. Each participating community’s commitment is reviewed annually to ensure continued alignment with the program’s goals.

Participation Incentives
Communities that earn a Missouri Blue Shield designation will receive grant funding for law enforcement training and equipment as part of Governor Kehoe’s Recommended Budget for the State Fiscal Year 2027, provided the General Assembly approves the funding. The Governor’s FY 2027 budget appropriated $10 million to the program for equipment and training grants. Communities will also be featured on Governor Kehoe’s social media pages as well as the DPS website to highlight their participation in the program. A map of 2025 Blue Shield communities is available here.

About Greenfield Police Department
Greenfield Police Department earned a Missouri Blue Shield designation because of its exceptional commitment to public safety. Through specific initiatives from application, such as officer recruitment efforts, partnerships with community stakeholders, etc. the community has demonstrated a strong and ongoing commitment to protecting its residents. This designation affirms Greenfield Police Department’s effort to create a safer, more secure environment for all who live and work here.

🚗 Memorial Day Traffic 🚗

As folks head home from the lake today, expect heavier than normal traffic through town — especially this afternoon and evening. Boats in tow mean slower speeds and wider turns, so give them plenty of room.
Gas stations will likely see long lines and congestion as travelers fuel up on their way back to the interstate. If you need to make a gas run, earlier in the day is your best bet.

Stay patient out there, watch for out-of-town drivers who may not know the roads, and keep an eye on kids and pets near the street.
Stay safe, Greenfield! 🇺🇸

SPEED STUDY RESULTS FROM MODOT
(Please be patient)
The speed study results have returned and am waiting for approval to get some speed limits changed. The only route that warranted adding a step down was US 160. If the study makes it through the approval process, then the new speed limits on US 160 as you enter the city from both directions will be 55 mph, to 45 mph, and then 35 mph.
