June is PTSD Awareness Month, highlighting a condition that affects many Hancock County residents from all walks of life.
PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing trauma, and healing often takes time, patience, and support.
💚If you or someone you care about is struggling, know that you don’t have to have all the answers right away. Small steps—like talking with someone you trust, practicing grounding techniques, spending time outdoors, or reaching out for professional support—can help create a path forward.

It's Men's Health Month and, guys, this is a friendly reminder that taking care of your health is not a weakness. In fact, it shows profound strength.
👉 Schedule those preventative screenings, find healthy ways to deal with stress and talk to others openly about how you are doing. You can't care for those who count on you if you aren't first caring for yourself.

Caregivers need support, too. 🧡

Caring for an ill loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful, emotional, and isolating at times. That’s why the Hancock Health Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center offers a free Caregiver Support Group: a welcoming space to connect with others who understand the caregiving journey.

This group is open to any adult caring for a loved one, regardless of diagnosis, and neither the caregiver nor the person receiving care needs to be a Hancock Health patient.

Join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 2–3 p.m. for conversation, encouragement, education, and camaraderie.

Many of us know personally the toll that caregiver burnout has on individuals and families. Caring for someone with dementia, although noble and beautiful, can be especially taxing. Our friends at Always a Village are offering a series of workshops this year to help caregivers learn how to best care for themselves.
🧡The first one is being held this Saturday, June 6th at the Community Foundation of Hancock County. Learn more and register below!

🌈 June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate authenticity, community, and the importance of feeling safe being yourself. For many LGBTQ+ individuals, mental health challenges can be made heavier by isolation, discrimination, or lack of support. That’s why connection, compassion, and affirming spaces matter.
Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or supporting someone who is, small acts of kindness and understanding can make a meaningful difference. Listening without judgment, checking in on loved ones, and creating spaces where people feel seen and respected all contribute to stronger mental well-being.
💜 Remember that the Connection Center is here to help marginalized communities throughout Hancock County. Call us at 317-468-4231.
