A national Icon and true Tennessseean was lost today. Forever in our hearts Dolly
Today, East Tennessee and the world mourn the loss of a true Tennessee treasure, Dolly Parton .
Dolly was iconic for her music, but perhaps her greatest legacy will be what she did for people. She used her success to make a difference far beyond the stage—putting books into the hands of children, supporting education and first responder programs, advancing medical research and healthcare, helping communities recover from devastating disasters, and giving back to the mountains and people she always called home.
She was more than an entertainer. She was a true humanitarian.
For those of us in East Tennessee, Dolly wasn't simply a global superstar. She was one of our own—a hometown neighbor from Sevier County who never forgot where she came from. From the porch in Locust Ridge and the story behind her Coat of Many Colors, to Dollywood and the biggest stages in the world, she carried the heart, humility, faith, and spirit of East Tennessee with her wherever she went.
Her music gave people something to sing about.
Her generosity gave people something to hope for.
Her life showed us that success isn't measured only by what you accomplish, but by what you give back.
From all of us at Hawkins County Rescue Squad, we extend our deepest condolences to the Parton family, her friends, the Dollywood family, and the millions of people whose lives she touched.
East Tennessee has lost one of its brightest lights, but the legacy she leaves behind will continue for generations.
Rest peacefully, Dolly. Thank you for never forgetting home.
From East Tennessee to the world — We Will Always Love You. 🦋
