Distinguished Young Women of Wyoming is an official state preliminary of Distinguished Young Women, a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. In addition to earning scholarships for college, those who participate in the Distinguished Young Women program develop friendships, self-confidence and other life skills that pave the way for
future success. Distinguished Young Women of Wyoming holds no local competitions. Participants from throughout Wyoming gather in Laramie, where a panel of five judges will select the Distinguished Young Woman of Wyoming. The participant selected as the state representative then competes in the annual National Finals competition, in Mobile, Alabama. State representatives from all 50 states will travel to the historic port city of Mobile, Alabama, for the Annual Distinguished Young Women National Finals. They will spend two weeks getting to know outstanding girls from across the country, engaging in community service and team development activities, and preparing for the National Finals competition. All state representatives will compete for a share of more than $130,000 in cash scholarships and the opportunity to represent the national program as the Distinguished Young Woman of America.
