Four teams of Green Forest's best athletes are hoping to make their hometown proud Saturday, June 13, at the 46-team 3v3Live tournament in Fayetteville.

Spectator admission is free at the Lewis Soccer Complex, 1515 N. Lewis.

If you're in the area, go cheer loudly for Green Forest's Under-11 Little Tigers, Under-12 Little Tigers, Under-13 Tiger Juniors and Under-15 Pink Tigers girls playing their first game ever!

Our ladies have the toughest schedule, facing much older opponents, Fayetteville at 9:30 a.m.. then Mountain Home at 10:30 a.m., Fayetteville again at 11:30, and Mountain Home at 12:30 p.m.

The Tiger Juniors are predominantly Green Forest seventh and eighth grade boys who serve as referees in Green Forest's weeknight home-only recreational league. They face Sheridan, Arkansas, at 1:30 p.m., Waynesville, Missouri, at 2:30, Fort Smith at 3:30, then at 4:30 an opponent to be named.

Our Little Tigers include players who won the 3v3Live National Championship in Panama City, Florida, a few months ago.

The Under-12 Little Tigers kick off against Monett, Missouri's black jersey squad at 9:30 a.m., Fayetteville at 10:30, Northwest Arkansas at 11:30, then Monett's red squad at 12:30 p.m.

The Under-11 Little Tigers face Springdale at 9 am., Bentonville at 10 a.m., Fayetteville at 11 a.m., then an opponent to be named at 12 a.m.

All four teams worked hard to raise the fees for the tournament. The Little Tigers and their parents staffed the concession stand at this fall's Green Forest weeknight games. The Pink Tigers worked at the Lions Club Rodeo concession stand last weekend and the Tiger Juniors worked the rodeo crowd both nights, handing out drug-abuse prevention brochures.

Are we proud to be Tigers? Yes, we are!

Good grief! They’ve created a new conference for us comprised of former state champions.

In a few days, DeQueen and Nashville will battle it out at the State Final in Hot Springs to see who is the 2026 4A State Champion.

Green Forest won't be there, but here's a consolation. In MaxPreps.com's final 4A State rankings, Green Forest is listed as the state's third best 4A team -- behind the two finalists.

And SportsIllustrated.com gives the Tigers a PCT of .816. "PCT" is a team’s win percentage. It provides a fair comparison between teams that have played unequal numbers of matches, is used in tie-breaking and appears in league tables alongside points, wins, and goal difference. Green Forest has the highest PCT of the state's 4A teams not in the upcoming finals.

We're used to being Number One. For 2026 we'll settle for the honor of being Number 3.

Twice it came down to a single goal. A couple of weeks ago, the unbeaten Tigers fell to Dardanelle by a single goal, dropping Green Forest to second in the 4A West Conference.

Saturday in the semifinals of the 4A State Championships, DeQueen High School came up with a single goal more than the Tigers ... and Green Forest went home.

Both teams had almost impenetrable defenses, fast attacks, rare turnovers and masterful, defiant goalkeepers.

But early in the second half, a foul in front of Green Forest's net resulted in a successful DeQueen penalty kick. They scored again on a breakaway.

Green Forest matched it, then in the final seconds launched an all-out attack, sending everybody including our keeper to the DeQueen net.

But at the final whistle, the scoreboard read 2-1. And an incredible season ended.

Green Forest defied all odds Friday at the State Tournament. SportsIllustrated.com had given the Tigers only a 20% chance.

They faced the reigning 4A state champs, soccer powerhouse Little Rock Robinson, the #1 ranked 4A team in Arkansas, this year's 4A North Conference Champs.

Sure, for several years Green Forest had dominated the Arkansas Activities Association's small-school 3A class. Annually, the soccer Tigers were challenged mostly by two private prep schools, Harding Academy and Central Arkansas Christian.

But in 2025, all three found themselves in 4A. Green Forest's growing student population sent them up. Harding and CAC were pushed up because of the state legislature's contention that private schools' ability to recruit and scholarship top athletes gives them an unfair advantage over smaller public schools.

As a result, Harding didn't even qualify for State this year. CAC was eliminated from the tournament Thursday. Green Forest wasn't expected to be a contender after losing the 4A West Conference Championship to Dardanelle.

Then Thursday the Tigers trounced their first-round opponent, Stuttgart, in a shut-out where the mercy rule had to be invoked. But Robinson did exactly the same to Mena.

And Friday afternoon, things didn't look good for little Green Forest High School, student population 445 -- facing fast-paced and precision-shooting Robinson, enrollment 845.

Jafet Fuentes put the Tigers on the board, but Robinson was awarded a goal that Green Forest players and spectators adamantly challenged -- claiming goalkeeper Abisai Reyes had blocked the ball from crossing the line.

But the call stood and the Senators pulled ahead after a Tiger foul resulted in a free kick that slammed high and in the corner of Green Forest's net.

For most of the rest of the game, the Tigers' defense kept Robinson off of Green Forest's half of the field while Tiger midfielders and strikers kept up a barrage of shots with two rebounding loudly off of the post. But the score remained 2-1 well into the second half.

Then with 19 minutes remaining, Brandon Perez took advantage of a Robinson defensive error and evened things up -- 2-2. Fourteen minutes later, Jonathan Rivera came out of nowhere and scored the winning goal.

And so ended Robinson's 17-game winning streak. At the final whistle, Green Forest's euphoric bench, coaches and spectators poured onto the field.

And the Tigers advanced to the semifinals -- noon Saturday at Harrison's Anstaff Soccer Complex -- facing 4A South Conference Champs DeQueen.

Green Forest is once again considered the underdog, but by a much lesser margin -- 47% to DeQueen's 53%. An exciting, action-packed match is expected .

And you can help. The Tigers do dramatically better when supported by a loud and excited crowd of whooping, hollering hometown fans.

No cash is accepted at the gate, so pre-purchase your $8 tickets online at https://gofan.co/event/6552459?schoolId=AAA.

Be cautious of live streaming that is advertised at https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/subscribe/retail. Friday after viewers purchased a $13.99 month's membership so they could view the game at home, the website informed them that the 4A tournament was not being live streamed.

So, join us at the field, showing these remarkable Tigers how much their hometown respects and loves them
