In 1915, nine women created an art appreciation club, but members soon realized that they also wanted a place to exhibit art. The idea of establishing a museum was germinated. They invited several men to assist them, and their dream was realized with the opening of the Neville Museum in 1927.
Today, a bronze plaque hangs at the Neville Public Museum commemorating those visionary women, and that nine-member Green Bay Art Club has grown into the Green Bay Art Colony.
