Meet Lenny! 🩵

Age: 6 months
Weight: 9 pounds

This spunky, sweet little nugget is looking for his forever home. Lenny is a happy, affectionate little guy who lives for three things: snuggles, chewing on a good bone, and finding the coziest blanket in the house for a well-deserved nap.

Lenny is a classic puppy at heart. He can be a little shy when he first meets someone new, but that initial shyness quickly melts away into pure excitement once he realizes he’s found a friend. He’s a smart boy who already knows his name and "come," and he’s working hard on mastering his "kennel" command.

Because Lenny is still learning the ropes, he’s looking for a patient, dedicated family who understands that puppyhood is a journey. He’s currently working on his house manners and kennel training, so he needs a home that can stick to a consistent schedule. He does best with a little extra support—especially during potty training—and because he thrives on having his humans close by and is still working on his kennel manners, he would be much happier in a house with a yard.

When it comes to other dogs, Lenny can be a little strong-willed, but with slow, proper introductions, he transforms into a playful, snuggly companion who loves having a canine buddy. He is currently being fostered in a home that also has a cat, and he is very respectful of friends of the feline kind.

Lenny is a work in progress, but he is already proving that the time and love you invest in him will be returned tenfold. If you have a big heart, a bit of patience, and a cozy spot on your couch, Lenny is your guy!

Meet Miller! 🩵

Age: 3 years | Weight: 22 lbs

Miller is a sweet, curious, and playful companion who loves to be a little shadow, following you around to see what you’re up to. He enjoys bursts of energy—perfect for walks or playing with his favorite rope toy—but is equally happy curling up under blankets for a cozy nap.

He is house-trained and working hard on crate-training. While he can be a bit stubborn at times, he is food-motivated and listens well, making him a great candidate for continued training. Miller is good with cats and would thrive best in a home with another dog to keep him company.

Miller is currently recovering from a skin infection and receives medicated baths 1-2 times a week. While his hair is slowly growing back, his sweet personality is already shining through. Because he can be a little mouthy when playing, he would likely do best in a home with older children.

Help us celebrate Lindsey on her birthday! 🎉

Lindsey wears many hats at MMDR. As a co-founder, foster coordinator, treasurer, and president, she plays an essential role in keeping our rescue running smoothly.

In her role as foster coordinator, Lindsey ensures that every dog we commit to has a safe temporary placement while they search for their forever home. She supports our foster families throughout the process, making sure they have the supplies and guidance they need.

As treasurer, Lindsey handles the important task of maintaining accurate financial records. This is a huge undertaking and one that Lindsey handles with grace. She also oversees our day-to-day operations as President.

A self-proclaimed Chihuahua lover, Lindsey has opened her heart and home to countless dogs in need through fostering and adoption.

Running a dog rescue takes a dedicated team, and we are incredibly grateful for everything Lindsey brings to MMDR. She is a valued member of our team, and we hope you’ll join us in wishing her a very happy birthday! 🎉

Meet Mikey! 🐾💛

Some of you may remember this adorable little face! Mikey first came to us as an owner surrender earlier this year and was lucky enough to find a wonderful adopter who loved him dearly. Sadly, after just four months together, his person passed away, and Mikey once again finds himself looking for a family to call his own.

At just 3 years old and 8 pounds, Mikey may be small in size, but he has a BIG personality! This energetic, curious little guy is always ready for something fun. Whether it’s going for a walk, playing fetch, exploring the yard, or having a full-blown squeaky-toy party, Mikey is happiest when he has something to do. And if there’s a squeaky toy involved? Even better! Those are definitely his favorite. 😂

Mikey can be a little unsure when meeting new people and may bark a few times to let you know he’s not quite sure about you yet. But give him a little time—and perhaps a few treats—and you’ll quickly see his sweet side come out. Once Mikey trusts you, he becomes a loyal little shadow who loves being close to his person. He’s more of a “sit right beside you” kind of guy than a lap dog, but he definitely wants to know where his favorite human is.

Mikey is crate trained and settles nicely once he gets comfortable. A treat makes kennel time even better, although he may give a little protest whining before settling down. He has also been doing wonderfully with his house training and does best with a consistent routine. Having another dog to follow outside has been especially helpful for him.

And this little guy is smart! Mikey is very treat-motivated and already knows several commands, including sit, stay, no, kennel up, and leave it. He enjoys learning and would love an adopter who will continue working with him and give him plenty of opportunities to use his busy little brain.

Mikey does well with other dogs and would absolutely love having a canine companion. In fact, another playful, confident dog could be a wonderful match for him—not only to play with, but also to help him continue building confidence and learning the ropes.

Mikey does have a higher energy level and is still working on learning how to settle himself when the fun is over. He thrives with structure, exercise, enrichment, and a routine that keeps his body and mind busy. He can also get a little mouthy and nippy when he’s excited during play, so he is looking for a home without young children.

And then there are the quirks that make Mikey… well, Mikey. 😂 He makes the funniest little gremlin noises when he wants something, and if he thinks you’ve forgotten that playtime is supposed to be happening, he has absolutely no problem sitting in front of you and barking his very strongly worded opinion. He’s a tiny dog with a lot to say!

Mikey’s ideal home will be with someone who is home often and enjoys having an active, playful companion. Someone who will give him daily walks, plenty of enrichment, continued training, and the structure he needs to learn how to settle. Most importantly, he needs someone who will be patient while he builds trust and who will appreciate all of his silly, spunky, slightly bossy ways.

Mikey has already experienced the heartbreak of losing his person once. ❤️‍🩹 What he needs now is a forever family who will love him for all of his quirks, help him continue to grow, and give him the security of knowing he is finally home for good.

If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a huge personality, endless entertainment, and a whole lot of love to give, Mikey may be the little guy you’ve been waiting for. 💛🐾

Meet Rocky, a charming 6-year-old, 31-pound bulldog with a heart of gold. A true "Velcro dog," Rocky is incredibly loyal and affectionate, always wanting to be by your side. Don't let his age fool you—he has a playful, puppy-like spirit and loves splashing in water, playing fetch, and being your well-behaved co-pilot on car rides.

Rocky is a smart boy who is house-trained and crate-trained. He knows a variety of commands—including sit, come, down, place, leave it, and even a "wave"—and is always eager to learn more. While he gets along beautifully with other respectful dogs, he is happiest when he’s wherever his people are.

Because Rocky can be reserved around new people, he needs a patient owner who can advocate for his space and help him feel secure. He thrives in calm, low-key environments without children, where someone is home often. He would do best with an owner who has experience with the French Bulldog breed and is willing to invest the time to build a trusting relationship. Because he needs time to warm up to strangers, he may require special arrangements for pet sitting.

Meet Harriet! 🩷

Age: 1 year
Weight: 20 pounds

Harriet is a shy, sweet girl with a wonderfully silly side that comes out once she feels safe. She enjoys running, playing with toys, wrestling and chasing her canine friends, and relaxing afterward with a good nap. She has medium energy and is quick to settle once playtime is over.

Harriet is happiest with other dogs and must have a confident, playful canine companion in her forever home. She looks to her dog friends for guidance and gains confidence by following their lead. She has enjoyed dogs of all sizes and has been respectful around cats, kittens, chickens, ducks, goats and horses.
New people are frightening for Harriet, so she needs patient adopters who understand that trust will take time. She responds best when people sit quietly, speak softly and offer treats without pressure. Harriet is not currently a cuddly or attention-seeking dog, and she may take one step forward and several steps back as she adjusts.

Her ideal home would be calm environment with someone home more often than not. A secure fenced yard is essential, as Harriet can become easily startled and may bolt if frightened.
Harriet is mostly house-trained and crate-trained, though she struggles when left alone and may bark or protest. She does best when her canine friends are nearby. She knows her name and is learning “no,” “kennel” and “come.”

Harriet has some adorable quirks: she loves rolling around in blankets and toy piles, chasing her tail and collecting hats, socks and other household items to make her own little treasure piles. She loves treats, so structured mealtimes and supervision are important. She also gets carsick and drools during rides, so she should be kenneled in the car.

Harriet will need patience, consistency and dedication, but with the help of a wonderful canine mentor, she has the potential to blossom into a happy, playful companion. She is looking for a quiet, understanding home willing to let her build confidence at her own pace.

Meet Lovie! 💕🐾

Lovie is a sweet little 2-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 10 pounds, and she is a girl who is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.

When Lovie first arrived in her foster home, she was shy and nervous, and she needed some time to decompress and figure everything out. Her foster family has been giving her that time and allowing her to move at her own pace—and slowly but surely, Lovie is beginning to come out of her shell. Every day, she is showing a little more of the sweet personality underneath that nervous exterior.

One of the most rewarding changes has been seeing Lovie begin to seek out her foster family for pets and attention. ❤️ She is learning that people can be trusted and that good things come from letting someone get a little closer. She is still uncomfortable with being picked up and may cower when someone tries, so her future family will need to respect her boundaries and allow her to build confidence at her own pace.

Lovie is a mellow little girl who enjoys the simple things. She likes exploring the yard, sniffing around, and playing with her toys. But apparently, her favorite hobby is toy collecting! 😂 Lovie loves taking her toys into her kennel and has become quite the little hoarder. Her kennel has become her safe space, where she can relax, decompress, and surround herself with her favorite things.

She is also doing wonderfully with her house manners. Lovie had one accident on her first day in her foster home but has otherwise kept both the house and her kennel clean. She is crate trained and is generally very quiet in her kennel, happily spending time there with her toys.

Lovie knows her name and, while her foster family hasn’t worked on formal commands yet, that’s intentional. Right now, her biggest job is simply learning to feel safe and comfortable. Once she is ready, her new family can begin building on her training.

Lovie has done well with some dogs in her foster home, but she has not been comfortable with every dog she has met. Her foster family has been taking introductions very slowly and giving her plenty of time to adjust. She has also shown some reactive behaviors around other dogs when it comes to toys and her kennel. Her foster family is working on managing these behaviors, and an adopter will need to continue that work with patience and consistency.

Because of her nervous nature and the need for a calm transition, Lovie would do best with a patient adopter who understands that trust isn’t built overnight. She may be happiest as the only dog in the home, though respectful, calm canine companions could potentially be an option if introductions are slow and carefully managed. Any dogs in her future home would need to give her the space and time she needs to settle in. A home without young children would be best for her.

Lovie isn’t going to be the dog who immediately runs up to everyone she meets and asks for cuddles. Instead, she is the kind of dog whose progress you’ll notice in tiny, incredibly rewarding moments—a little closer than yesterday, seeking out your hand for pets, relaxing beside you, or proudly carrying another toy into her kennel. 🥹

She is still learning, and there is still so much about Lovie that her foster family is discovering. But every day, she is showing a little more of herself.

Lovie doesn’t need someone to rush her. She needs someone willing to be patient, respect her boundaries, celebrate her small victories, and give her the time she needs to realize she is finally home. And when that trust comes, it will be something truly special. ❤️🐾

10/08/2026 — Four years in the making. Brutus is officially home.

Looking back over the past four years, there was a time when we weren’t sure this day would ever come. Thankfully, Brutus had some of the very best people in his corner, fighting for him every step of the way. Stick with us—it’s going to be a long read! ❤️

Brutus was adopted as a puppy in 2020. About two years later, his adopters reached out to let us know they could no longer keep him due to some concerning behaviors. We arranged to bring Brutus back into our care, thinking, How bad could this 15-pound little dog really be?

As it turned out, pretty bad. Brutus proceeded to terrorize his foster family on his very first night, leading to a late-night intervention as we attempted to wrangle him into a crate and remove him from the foster home. To say it was quite an adventure would be a serious understatement.

Brutus’ entire world had been turned upside down, and we understood the stress he was under—being in a new place with new people. Megan and Matt graciously opened their home to give him a safe place to decompress.

As time passed, we realized that Brutus struggled with severe resource guarding over nearly anything he considered “his.” He also had big feelings about being handled in any capacity. It became clear that he had difficulty regulating his emotions and channeling his energy in healthy ways.

That’s when we enlisted the help of our amazing friend and trainer, Stephanie. Brutus spent an extended period of time with her so she could truly get to know him. Stephanie was able to communicate with Brutus in a way that was meaningful to him, and he quickly formed a trusting relationship with her. She helped him find a healthier state of mind, allowing him to make better choices when interacting with people.

Megan and Matt then welcomed Brutus back home and continued the work Stephanie had started. Rehabilitation is not a linear journey—what feels like two steps forward can sometimes turn into three steps backward. We ultimately determined that Brutus was not a candidate for adoption and would instead become a “forever foster” with Megan and Matt.

Brutus had established a routine, and although he certainly didn’t always make things easy, he became a member of their pack. Over time, he decided that Megan and Matt were his people.

One thing has remained constant throughout Brutus’ journey: Megan and Matt. They have stood by him through his best days and his hardest ones. On the days he made things especially difficult, they weathered the storm and continued showing up for him.

But best of all, Brutus gets to live. He gets to experience hikes, patio hangs, neighborhood pack walks and fetch—his favorite. He has even helped welcome other foster dogs into his home. Megan and Matt poured everything they had into this little dog, and in return, they received a piece of Brutus’ heart.

Brutus has come such a long way over the past four years, and Megan and Matt have decided to make him an official member of their family!

Megan and Matt, thank you for showing Brutus patience, dedication and love—and for always accepting him exactly as he is. Your journey together is truly inspiring and gives so many others hope. We are so happy for all of you and couldn’t imagine a better place for Brutus to land.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Stephanie. We are incredibly grateful for every way you have helped Brutus along the way!

Brutus is a testament to the misfits of the world—the underdogs no one understands. He reminds us that there is always hope.
