Although not a friend of Ulster Unionism during the Home Rule crisis, future Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in his four volume ‘History of the English Speaking Peoples’ recognised and highlighted the close links between the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the 1776 Declaration of Independence by the American colonies. Both were indeed 'Declarations of Liberty'.
