I had a Great time with my Brothers at the Grand Supreme Orange Lodge of USA
meeting held in Charleston South Carolina.
Several of the lodges were represented. I was very delighted to have represented our Land of Goshen LOL #1517 as a delegate. A great Brotherhood of good Protestant Christian men.

In some Appalachian churches, there came a point in the service when somebody brought out the basins and towels.

Foot washing comes from the New Testament account of Jesus washing the disciples' feet, and the practice is certainly not unique to Appalachia. But it remained an important ordinance in some Baptist, Primitive Baptist, holiness and other mountain congregations.

One person sat while another knelt. Then places were exchanged. It was a simple act carrying a much larger message about humility, service and fellowship.

Not every Appalachian church practiced foot washing, and customs differed from congregation to congregation.

Although not a friend of Ulster Unionism during the Home Rule crisis, future Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in his four volume ‘History of the English Speaking Peoples’ recognised and highlighted the close links between the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the 1776 Declaration of Independence by the American colonies. Both were indeed 'Declarations of Liberty'.

31st October marks Reformation Day, the 508th anniversary of Martin Luther posting his 95 theses on the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg which affirmed an individual’s opportunity to have a personal saving relationship with God through faith in Christ alone.

On this solemn Good Friday, let us come together to reflect on the profound sacrifice made for us. Remember the words of John 15:13 KJV:

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

As we honor this ultimate act of love, may we strive to embody that same strength and resolve in our lives. Let this day inspire us to support one another in faith and brotherhood.

🔶 The Meaning Behind the Orange Sash, collarette & Regalia 🔶

One of the most recognisable symbols of the Orange Order is the colour orange itself, representing the House of Orange-Nassau—the lineage of King William III (William of Orange). As a Sovereign Prince of Orange, his legacy is honoured through the traditions of the Orange Institution.

🔸 Why Orange?
The colour became a symbol of Protestant heritage and loyalty following King William’s victory at the Battle of the Boyne (1690). It is believed that William was first seen wearing an orange sash in Newry during the Williamite–Jacobite Wars, marking its deep association with faith and freedom.

🔸 The Orange Collarette
Worn with pride, the collarette is a narrow band of cloth draped around the neck, forming a “V” shape on the chest. More than just ceremonial wear, it represents:
🔹 Lodge membership
🔹 Position within the Order
🔹 Awards and honours received

The Orange sash and regalia are powerful symbols of faith, tradition, and the enduring legacy of King William III.
