Dear Friends,
I want to share an analogy that has resonated with me deeply, one that illustrates the way we carry our worries and burdens in life. Picture a glass of water – a simple yet powerful image. The glass itself remains unchanged, but as we hold it for just a few minutes, we begin to feel the strain in our arms, the fatigue in our hands. Holding on to that glass becomes tumultuous, and the longer we grip it, the heavier it feels.
In life, we often find ourselves grasping tightly to our worries and fears, just as we would hold that glass. Yet, Jesus reminds us in the Garden of Gethsemane, as recorded in Matthew 26:39, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want, but what you want.” Jesus understood the weight of the cup he was to drink from, yet he also recognized that it was not his burden to carry alone.
We tend to hold on to our concerns, thinking that by doing so, we can control our outcomes. But much like that glass of water, the weight becomes unbearable. Instead of holding onto our worries, we should remember that it is not necessary to drink from every cup presented to us.
Next time you find yourself overwhelmed by the burdens you carry, remember this: the glass may be heavy, but you don’t have to hold on to it indefinitely. Trust in God's timing, knowing that if you must drink from the cup, His grace is sufficient to sustain you.
So, cast your cares aside, and let your worries flow, taking comfort in the knowledge that you are not alone and that God's support is unfailing.
Amen. Stay blessed, my friends.
