The Gray Senior members had an outstanding couple of weeks relaxing and creating their beautiful diamond art projects. Each member was able to choose the art design they wanted to complete, thoughtfully selected by our directors, Mrs. Bernadette Smith and Mr. Jerrell Thomas, for everyone to enjoy and create.

Everyone’s diamond art turned out beautifully, and the creativity and enjoyment shared throughout the project made it even more special. All of the Gray members are already looking forward to the next exciting project together!

The Gray Senior Center members had a wonderful time celebrating our end-of-the-month April birthday with our mentor, Mr. Leonard Neville. We enjoyed laughter, dancing, music, food, cake, and ice cream.
Everyone joined in the fun as Mr. Neville danced down the middle of the floor while we cheered him on. We also celebrated with gifts and sang "Happy Birthday."
The Gray Senior Center members wish Mr.
Leonard Neville a very Happy Birthday and many more to come. We are already looking forward to next month's celebration and excitement!

What an unforgettable evening we shared at our Annual Sneaker Ball on April 24th at the Municipal Auditorium! Seniors from Gray, Houma, and Gibson truly showed up and showed out for this year’s dazzling theme, “Harlem Night.”

The elegance in the room was unmatched. Our senior ladies looked absolutely stunning in their 1920s-inspired attire—assorted sequin beaded fringed dresses, long gloves, fascinating headbands, elegant earrings, pearl necklaces, bracelets, and fishnet stockings—all perfectly paired with their decorative silver, gold, or black sneakers. The gentlemen were just as sharp, dressed in suits with vests, suspenders, stylish hats, and bow or neck ties, topped off with their own unique sneakers.

The music kept the room alive all night long, with everyone enjoying time on the dance floor and engaging in wonderful conversations. It was especially heartwarming to see members share this special evening with their invited guests, making it a true celebration of family, friendship, and community.

A highlight of the evening was the crowning of our kings and queens. Representing Gray Center, Queen Ms. Mable Smith and King Mr. Leonard Celestin; Houma Center, Queen Ms. Mary Butler and King Mr. Thomas Harding; and Gibson Center, Queen (Mentor) Ms. Carrie Whitr and King Mr. Lionel Diggs. As they made their way down the red carpet, cheers filled the room in admiration of their grace and beauty. Each royal pair delivered a heartfelt toast with champagne or sparkling grape, adding a truly regal touch to the night.

The feast was just as delightful as the festivities, featuring fried chicken, jambalaya, deviled eggs, sandwiches, meatballs, fresh vegetables, and cake, along with refreshing tea and lemonade.

It was truly an evening of glamour, joy, and unforgettable memories. All of our seniors would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Director Mrs. Bernadette Smith and Mr. Jerrell Thomas for making this event possible, and to Gulf Coast Social Services for their continued support in helping make this Sneaker Ball another incredible success.

Gulf Coast Social Service Director Mrs. Bernadette Smith and Mr. Jerrell Thomas,

On behalf of the members of the Gray Senior Center, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for inviting Mrs. Stacy Martin of the Terrebonne Parish Health Unit and Mrs. Emily Loney of the Terrebonne Parish Library System to speak with us on January 12th.

Mrs. Martin provided important information regarding “Prevention on the Go,” including Breast, Colorectal, and Skin Cancer screenings and upcoming screening dates. Mrs. Loney shared The Page Turner pamphlet and informed us of the many programs and events offered through the local library system, including health, nutrition, and educational activities.

We thank both guest speakers for their informative presentations and thank you ( Mrs. Bernadette Smith, and Mr. Jerrell Thomas), for coordinating this opportunity for our center. We greatly appreciate being informed about the valuable programs available in our community.

Respectfully,
Members of the Gray Senior Center

Happy Birthday Celebration – Gray Senior Center (December)

We, the members of the Gray Senior Center, were truly joyful in the month of December as we celebrated the birthdays of three special members: Mrs. Gloria Daggs, who was unable to attend, Mrs. Ruby Manuel, and Mrs. Joanne Trahan. It was a beautiful celebration filled with praise and thanksgiving unto God.

As the birthday celebrants came down the aisle, their song was “I Need a Little More Jesus,” a perfect reminder for the month of December—the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Truly, Jesus is the reason for the season. The ladies were elegantly attired in all black, accented with red scarves and black berets, making the celebration even more radiant.

All members joined together praising God and thanking Him for allowing us to see the month of December. Everyone was given an opportunity to thank God for themselves, creating a powerful and uplifting atmosphere. The party table was beautifully decorated in vibrant red and black, with stunning flowers adorned with feathers and glitter. The backdrop of Joseph and Mary with baby Jesus reminded us of the good news of His birth, along with honoring our three birthday celebrants.

The feast was a delightful gathering filled with laughter, joy, and love. The menu included turkey, ham, rice dressing, yams, sandwiches, deviled eggs, mac and cheese, cupcakes, strawberry cheesecake, pecan pie, apple pie, and ice cream. Praise continued throughout the celebration, and everyone left with grateful hearts.

We thank God for a blessed end-of-the-month birthday celebration.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Happy New Year! 🎄✨

The Gray Senior Center is joyfully getting ready for Christmas! Last week, our members poured their hearts into creating their very own angels, lovingly guided by mentor Ms. Connie Walker and supported by our other dedicated mentors. Using white, gold, silver, green, yellow, red, or pink mesh, Christmas tree bulbs, and shimmering pipe cleaners, each beautiful angel reflected the true reason for the season—Jesus.

The atmosphere was happy, jolly, and filled with love, all wrapped in a wonderful sense of excitement. As each member crafted their own guardian angel, the beauty of their creations was absolutely breathtaking. Everyone shared their own creative ideas to match the colors they chose, making each angel a unique and meaningful masterpiece.

Our members truly feel that their angel is a divine messenger reminding them that Jesus is the reason for the season as we celebrate His birthday. And with hearts full of joy, everyone is already looking forward to the next special project!

🎉🤠 Gray Senior Center Western Birthday Round-Up 🤠🎉

Last week, our Gray Senior Center wrapped up November with a rootin’, tootin’, high-spirited End-of-the-Month Birthday Celebration—and what a Western showdown it was! Our members always look forward to this time of month, but this one truly had the whole center galloping with excitement.

We honored two Western birthday ladies:
• Ms. Maggie Antoine – 94 years young
• Mentor Ms. Connie Walker – 67 years blessed

Both ladies came dressed for the rodeo—cowboy hats, blue jeans, and vests—ready to gallop in on their broomstick horses! The Western theme shined bright through the entire center. The tables were dressed with cowgirl hats, pink boots, and barn-style wooden tablecloths sprinkled with hay designs. The backdrop featured a pink barn birthday sign, a wagon wheel, and a guitar, setting a perfect scene for the celebration.

When their theme song—“West Love, Work It”—started playing, our birthday cowgirls came riding in, dancing proudly with their broomstick horses. Their entrance sparked pure joy, causing the entire center to join in and “gallop” right along, even without horses! The laughter and cheers filled the room like a good ole country jamboree.

The feast was a true barnyard banquet, including:
Turkey, ham, rice dressing, mac and cheese, sandwiches, deviled eggs, pecan pie, strawberry cheesecake, cupcakes, and ice cream.
Every bite brought comfort, warmth, and the sweet taste of celebration.

From old-fashioned dancing to hearty laughter, fun, and fellowship, this Western birthday roundup was one for the books!

And of course…the members are already eagerly looking forward to the December End-of-the-Month Celebration. Yee-haw! 🤠🎂🎶

Our members at the Gray Senior Center had an amazing time designing their own “Welcome,” and “Thankful” door wreaths. Guided by mentor Mrs. Gloria Benjamin, Mr. Leonard Neville, and our other dedicated mentors, each member chose a special paint color for their round wooden wreath and selected a stencil to enhance their design. Their finished creations featured crosses, hearts, a lady with mistletoe, bows, Christmas tree garland, white garland, poinsettias, ribbons, flowers, and ferns. The room was filled with excitement and joy as everyone shared ideas and admired each beautiful piece. As always, the members are already looking forward to the next project.

“Every day is a day of thanksgiving, for the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever.”

As we all know, each new day is a blessing from God, but November is that special month when hearts everywhere turn with gratitude toward the holiday of Thanksgiving. We, the members of the Gray Senior Center, Gibson Senior Center, and Houma Senior Center, would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Gulf Coast Social Services, our Director Mrs. Bernadette Smith, Mr. Jarrell Thomas, and all the dedicated mentors for the amazing Thanksgiving celebration held last Thursday.

The decorations were beautifully festive—perfect for a season of giving thanks. God’s joy was truly in the room as everyone came together as one family: talking, laughing, singing, dancing, and enjoying the oldies music. We shared stories of what we plan to cook, who will be coming home, where we’ll enjoy our Thanksgiving meals, and even who will be traveling out of town and for how long. It was fellowship at its finest—just the way God loves His children to gather.

The food was a feast to be grateful for: turkey, ham, rice dressing, cornbread dressing, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, sweet peas, candied yams, potato salad, rolls, and delicious desserts. After the meal, the dancing continued, and the joy filled every corner of the room. No one wanted the evening to end, and we are all looking forward to the actual day of Thanksgiving and to many more outings of love, unity, and fun.

So once again, thank you, Gulf Coast Social Services, for blessing us with such a wonderful celebration.

From our hearts to yours: Happy Thanksgiving—and may we always give thanks to the Lord for He is worthy of all praise.
