About 335 local time the weather has started. Rain is falling enough to have wipers on. There is no freezing as of yet as the temperature is 32*. Roads are in good condition and state, county, individuals are sendering, salting, and preparing for bad weather. I noticed that even the lake roads have began to get the preparedness.

thank you to all the hard workers, working early to keep us as safe as possible.

Locally the weather is for up to 1/2 inch of ice and 2-5 inches of snow both locally more in places. There could be power outages. Governor Parsons has issued a state of Emergency for the local area.

Please check on neighbors, especially when/if the power goes out. Stay inside and off the roadways. If you NEED to go somewhere please do so in the daylight and with plenty of time.

Happy 2025!! We hope each of you will have a blessed and prosperous year.

We are going to actively be working on our list, so if you are able to help please comment or message us!!

We are excited for a new year and to see where we can help our community.

For January we will be having a food drive. I will work on a list and get it posted before the end of the weekend.

February we will collect diapers and wipes as we partner with Gravois Diaper drive.

March will be necessities: soap, shampoo, laundry soap, toilet paper, etc

Here is what we are needing from the community. Please don't let this list scare you, everything divided makes for easy success!

So, we have taken a break and regrouped and have settled on a decision for the upcoming year.

I know its not the first of the year yet but things are happening sooner than later so I thought I would go ahead and post.

We hope to have advocates within the community. These advocates would look like the following;
A person or two from each of the local churches, so you may speak with your various groups and congregations to enlighten them on what we are doing and what we need. You could also post in your bulletin for us.

We are looking for some community members to help us and this may look like:
Getting business donations
Printing material
Mailing newsletters
Creating the newsletter
Create resource lists
Hosting diaper drives
Hosting Thanksgiving dinner drive
Hosting adoption for Christmas
delivering of food items
We are looking for a few supporters , these people would:
organize donations
make food boxes

And finally, we are in great need of a few large donors :
we need a portable building for storing items. We have space we just need a commitment to pay for the building or get one donated.
we need food and utensils to get started.
we will need electricity ran to the building
we will need a refrigerator and a freezer

So, for the upcoming year our focus will be:
1. to provide resources to community members struggling in various ways.
2. to provide cooking appliances (crock pots, electric skillets) and groceries to those in need.
3. we have partnered with UM baby grace to provide diapers and clothing to parents in need. This is a monthly give a way locally. We will collectively donate items, funds, and manpower as well as refer folks to them for distribution.
4. we will adopt 10 families for thanksgiving dinner
5. we will adopt 10 children for Christmas.
4 and 5 we could do more if donations are available. But we are committing to these numbers.
6. other community needs as they become aware I will post with an expiration date. If we can help we will.

This is what I need from you:

For January 2025 and the rest of 2025.
Please get with me if you can assist in the above ways.
Consider a monthly donation

It takes a village, and I can not do this alone. I am only one person! So, no matter how small your donation will go a long way in helping someone else.

All assistance will stay local Versailles to Greenview. While we are not a food bank, we will strive to give folks items they need for up to 5 days of nutritional food for their family. In some instances, this means delivery of items. We do not discriminate, and do not have income guidelines.

Happy 2025. If you have questions please let us know.

So, we have taken a break and regrouped and have settled on a decision for the upcoming year.

I know its not the first of the year yet but things are happening sooner than later so I thought I would go ahead and post.

First, we have sought the advice of many knowledgeable folks and they all have the same end result. At this time we will not be going ahead with our 501. We have put that money aside for future community projects. We have learned that donors can give $10,000 per year without reciepts, so we hope to be part of that giving in the community. The benefits of being 501 granted are not significant for us and what we want to do at this time.

We are not going to have a 'board' instead we hope to have advocates within the community. These advocates would look like the following;
A person or two from each of the local churches, so you may speak with your various groups and congregation to enlighten them on what we are doing and what we need. You could also post in your bulletin for us.

This is what I need from you:

NOW : December 2024 we have 2 families that need your help. I have posted about one and the other post will be following this one.

FAMILY 1

Hey all! I hope this finds each of you well and doing great!

Friday I had the privilege of consoling a recent single mom who was having a hard day.

So, I am asking each of you to consider rallying with me to help her and her family.

They have had numerous medical issues in the past couple months. Mom is working as much as possible but due to the medical stuff she is missing some work.

She has some big bills coming due the end of the year ( property taxes) that is a real strain for her.

A couple weeks ago dad left, no warning.. just left. This has her in a great bind as he left her with all the house bills, kids, pets, etc.

So, this momma is in need of groceries. I have been making meals and taking to them since Friday and they are very humble and grateful!

They are not asking for anything for Christmas they just need to manage the next couple weeks.

With a surgery next week and more time off work mom is struggling financially and mentally.

I know we can help her! I have made a list with her at Walmart. Please order from Versailles Walmart Pick up on Tuesday at 1pm and I will go pick up. Pick up person Pam Edgar **If for some reason this time is not available please message the page and someone will pick up and deliver to the family. ***

Mom is asking for gift cards for gas and such. And, she has shared with me her electric account if you are so inclined to help there.
* We never give families cash money, we meet them at the gas station and pay utilities directly.

I know Christmas is right around the corner, and times are hard on everyone. But, if everyone could only do $10 we would have a car load of groceries for mom.

more information, kids are school age and while they are in school the next week and a couple days they will be out for 10 ish days for break. Kids are old enough to make simple things. We tried to find the cheapest and easiest for you and them, while providing good nutritional value.

Please let us know if you can help mom.
I have added pet food and prepaid gift cards to the Walmart order as well. We can then use the cards to pay utilities or get gas. ( Or you can donate specifically for that!)

*** please remember this is only a suggestion list. If you can find better prices and wish to shop that is perfectly fine and greatly appreciated. We can meet you and deliver your donation.

Ya'll.........words are sometimes seemingly overrated, as in moments like these!

Every family for thanksgiving is taken care of. All single elder and shut in people will get a meal from the senior center on Thanksgiving Day.

All kiddos for Christmas have been adopted.

This is amazing, grateful, heart full news!!!! Without you, we can not be the village we need to be!

If you know me at all you know I do not do this for the recognition. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that you don't know. My life consists of spread sheet after spread sheet.

So, even though all kiddos and all bellies are taken care of there is more than you all will ever know going on. Did you know that we see between 200 and 300 kiddos a year? Santa takes kiddos a food basket, a small toy, and something they need ( hats, gloves, previously loved coats) This is the behind-the-scenes stuff that we don't share. Why don't we share it? Because these kiddos will have one or two gifts under the tree. All kiddos and families we get are from teachers, counselors, pastors, law enforcement, fire department.
So, why do I share this with you? Not everything takes several dollars or a lot of time shopping. Sometimes, you can make a big change in someone's life with the cost of one soda one day!
If you are in a position to help, please let me know, this may look like a few dollars or a few items from dollar tree.

But, again with all the heartfelt gratitude I can muster, THANK YOU! You have made this happen and we are proud to be apart of this village!

I was going to wait until after the new year to post but the amount of requests coming in is crazy.. so I have decided to post here.

THANKSGIVING

Right now we have 17 single/older persons in need of dinner. I have reached out and am working with the ministerial alliance to get them dinner and we will deliver.

There are 5 families that are in need of Dinner. None of these families are particular that is it traditional "thanksgiving" and all have the ability to cook a small/med turkey/ham.

So, if we can get the following items together before Nov. 22 I will get them to the families or let them know we can not help.
Personally, I think it would be easier if each family here would agree to adopt a family for thanksgiving. You would then purchase what you want for them and we will get them delivered. However, any assistance is appreciated!

CHRISTMAS

We have received 13 kiddos so far. So if you would like to adopt a kiddo please let me know if you want a boy or girl and an age if it matters and I will send you a need and want list.

Im sure we will get more kiddos!

If you know me at all you know the kiddos really tug at our hearts.

Thanks for all your help. Remember~ all your donations and all those we help are local !!

Stay tuned for whats coming in 2025
