Saturday! An exciting collab with an amazing ArtPrize artist!

Working Backwards + Happy People Hike Neighborhood Clean Up

🗓️Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m–12 p.m.
📍975 Ottawa Ave NW — Back Gallery Space “Working Backwards”

Join ArtPrize exhibitor Mia Cinelli and Happy People Hike for a collaborative, art-filled event! At 10 a.m. Mia will give a brief tour of her new exhibition “Working Backwards,” followed by a collective neighborhood clean-up. All supplies will be provided, as well as a special take home gift made from plastic recovered at our clean ups. Stick around afterwards for happy hour at Garage Bar and Grill and a “favorite finds” conversation.​ 🗑️

What is Working Backwards all about?

“What if we could view a future which has already happened? ‘Working Backwards’ features print ephemera ‘discovered’ from the future and presented for public viewing. Just as contemporary archaeologists sift through historic refuse for insights on culture and behavior, this retrospective view of a speculative future aims to challenge audience perception about our possible trajectories— and the actions required to achieve or avoid them.”

Today’s clean up started with a rain delay and ended as a huge success! A ton of trash collected, some epic prizes given away and an awesome time with new and old friends! Many of these folks have been coming to clean ups for the last 3 years. Cannot thank Black River Tavern enough for being such an amazing partner and Corona for making these events happen. That’s a wrap on beach clean ups for 2025, but there’s a lot more coming this year and next! Stay tuned for announcements and fun little recap reel of this summers fun. 🤩 Ya’ll are just the best!
