For more than twenty years, the Granite Falls School District (GFSD) Food & Gift Drive has been a labor of love each December. Our entire district comes together to support local families and students in our community—an effort made possible only through the dedication of students, staff, alumni, and community partners.

This year presented significant challenges, including lower-than-expected food donations and a major windstorm that delayed deliveries and pickups. Despite these obstacles, our community once again rose to the occasion with remarkable generosity and determination. Through these collective efforts, we were able to support more than 153 families and 380 children during the holiday season.

Steeped in tradition and grounded in a deep sense of care for one another, the Granite Falls community consistently steps up to support neighbors in need. The GFSD Food & Gift Drive is a powerful reflection of our community’s compassion, empathy, and commitment to putting Love in Action.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed—those who donated gifts, food, toiletries, financial support, and countless volunteer hours. Thank you to our students, staff, alumni, local businesses, and community members whose generosity made this work possible.

A special acknowledgment goes to Grandview Property Management for their extraordinary support. By adopting more than 100 children and providing fresh food, toiletries, and supplemental groceries, they once again played a vital role in the success of this year’s drive. By the numbers:

• 153 families adopted through the GFSD Food & Gift Drive
• 380 children received holiday gifts
• 15,000 food and household items collected
• Over $24,000 in donations

Once again, thank you to everyone who came together to make a meaningful difference. This season was a powerful demonstration of Love in Action, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support.

It was a busy and meaningful weekend for the GFSD Food & Gift Drive. Saturday was our annual Shopping Day at Fred Meyer in Marysville, where we spent $14,000 on gifts for children in our community. While staff, students, and alumni enjoyed selecting gifts, the day was really about kindness, selflessness, and truly putting Love into Action.

Each year, we are humbled by the generosity of our community—and this year is no exception. THANK YOU to everyone who donated to make this important day possible, and a special thank you to the incredible staff at Fred Meyer in Marysville for their support.

The impact of the GFSD Food & Gift Drive is something pictures can never fully capture. We’ll continue working hard this week to ensure that every dollar and item donated goes directly to supporting more than 150 families and nearly 400 children in our community.

This afternoon, there were numerous bears spotted at Granite Falls High School! Okay… maybe they were teddy bears and other wild (stuffed) animals — but it was exciting nonetheless!

A huge thank-you to the Angel of the Winds Arena and the Everett Silvertips for choosing the GFSD Food & Gift Drive as recipients of the stuffed animals from their annual Teddy Bear Toss. At the event, fans toss stuffed animals onto the ice after the Silvertips’ first goal of the game. These donations will go directly to more than 300 children in our school district.

While these stuffed animals are a wonderful boost to our Gift Drive, we still need your help. We are significantly behind in food and gift donations this year, and we are especially short on food items. Please consider donating nonperishable food or toiletry items.

You can also support the GFSD Food & Gift Drive by donating cash or checks at any school office, or by giving online at www.gfsdfooddrive.org. Every dollar helps us purchase gifts for children and fill holiday food baskets for local families.

Today marked the official kickoff of the 2025 GFSD Food & Gift Drive, and we launched it spectacularly with our annual Food Drive Assembly at GFHS! As always, the assembly was filled with fun games, messages of kindness and giving, and reminders of all the ways our students can support this year’s drive. But this year came with a twist—our staff helped raise nearly $400 through a delicious “Pudding” Pie Eating Contest!

Let’s say… generosity and strategy played a role. Staff could make it easy on themselves by purchasing a spoon for $30, or make it difficult on another staff person by buying them chopsticks at $10, or adding extra whipped topping to another staff person’s pie for $5. Cash and cards were accepted—and the competition got messy fast!

Huge shoutout to our incredible student Food Drive Coordinators and staff advisors for making the assembly happen! Today was an amazing kickoff to the season of giving—and a great day to be a Tiger.

The GFSD Food & Gift Drive launches right after Thanksgiving break—and this year, our community needs us more than ever. We are already supporting nearly 100 families and more than 200 children, with more requests coming in every single day.
As always, we are committed to providing holiday food baskets (with fresh meat and produce) and gifts and clothing for children across the Granite Falls School District. But with the growing need, we’re facing our biggest challenge yet: meeting our goals of 20,000 food items and $28,000 in cash donations. Cash donations are critical—they allow us to purchase gifts, warm clothing, and supplemental food items to ensure no child goes without this season. Here’s how you can help:
- Donate online: Visit www.gfsdfooddrive.com to make a cash contribution.
- Drop off items: Bring nonperishable food and toiletries to any District building.
- Pick up a gift tag: Starting December 1, 2025, every District building will have gift tags for children ages 0–18. Each tag represents a child you can personally shop for—providing both clothing and gifts.
Our community has always shown incredible generosity. Thank you for helping us make sure every family and child feels supported this holiday season.

Today was about selflessness and community. It was about putting words to action. It was about generosity and kindness. Once again, students, staff, alumni, parents, and community members came together to shop for children and families in need as part of the GFSD Food & Gift Drive. An enormous shout out to our Marysville Fred Meyers for supporting us — where we spent more than $15,000! Of course, none of this could have been possible without the incredible giving of our community, especially Grandview Property Management. The GFSD Food & Gift Drive continues to be something pictures can never describe. THANK YOU EVERYONE who participated or donated. You are all helping make the holidays brighter for more than 170 families and nearly 400 children.

The GFSD Food & Gift Drive is in full swing, and we need your help to ensure that our furry friends are also taken care of this holiday season. In addition to food and gift donations for families in need, we’re asking for donations of dog and cat food! Did you know that you can also donate online? Visit our website at www.gfsdfooddrive.org. You can give as little as $5.00 and every dollar helps. Thank you for all you do for our community and our students!
