"City Built Brewing is investing up to $2.9 million into a three-building redevelopment in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood, a move that will nearly double production capacity and will leave the future of its flagship Monroe Avenue taproom an open question.
CEO Edwin Collazo told Crain’s Grand Rapids Business that the move will consolidate City Built’s production and storage under one roof, cut roughly 20 hours of weekly labor spent shuttling beer between locations, and set up the company to nearly double production capacity.
The project is part of a multi-phase investment in the Creston neighborhood. This fall, City Built will start the first phase of a $1.5 million renovation, creating a space to store its beer and grain and relocating the brewery’s production equipment.
While City Built has yet to finalize plans for the rest of the property, Collazo’s long-term vision includes spaces for two complementary retailers adjacent to the brewery, a beer garden to host events as well as a taproom and space for a third-party restaurant." - Abby Poirier
