What does it mean to be a West Side Christian School student?
Today’s glimpses of Portrait of a Student focus are:
✨Communicates Effectively
At WSCS, students are encouraged to share their thoughts with confidence, listen with compassion, and engage in meaningful conversations rooted in Christ-centered love. They are also challenged to engage God’s world with curiosity and wonder — asking thoughtful questions, discovering new ideas, and exploring the gifts and opportunities God has placed before them.
❤️Kindergarten and 4th grade buddies took time to create Valentine’s for one another, showing appreciation for their friendships.
📚5th graders researched a person who has had an impact on history, then presented their research at a Wax Museum. Not only did they dress up and represent their person with their space, but they also had to craft a poster and speech with important details to share with others
🌱8th grade students made a presentation to WSCS School Board members outlining production, finances, projections, and benefits realized with our Greenhouse Business.
✨Explores Ideas
🌎3rd grade explored the order God created within the world of “force and motion.” Students investigated and learned about friction and gravity as they built, modified and worked together on a marble ramp experiment.
🔍Kindergarten is always filled with awe and wonder when we explore God’s creation…or when God’s creation explores us!
🦉2nd graders explored God’s creation with wonder while learning about the Barred Owl at Blandford Nature Center. Just before this they were able to see and hear a Barred owl while on their night hike.
⛺️5th graders experienced a taste of what Valley Forge would have been like for George Washington and the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War! They built shelters, made a fire, drank tea, and more.
Whether collaborating with classmates, presenting projects, or diving into hands-on learning experiences, our students are growing into curious learners and effective communicators prepared to impact the world for Christ.
