Brunch is nice. Trips are nice, Game nights are nice…But who can go to war with you?!

Prayer isn't optional

In John C. Maxwell's classic book Be a People Person, the core message is that effective leadership and personal success are entirely dependent on building healthy, strong relationships.

Here are 7 key lessons and principles from the book:

Core Lessons from Be a People Person
1. People skills are learnable: You are not born locked into a certain level of social capability; anyone can learn and improve their interpersonal skills with intentional effort and practice.

2. The power of encouragement: Encouragement is one of the greatest tools for lifting people up and helping them transcend their perceived limitations. Most people thrive when someone believes in them.

3. The craving for appreciation: William James noted that the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated. Recognizing and valuing others—no matter how small their role may seem—is essential for strong bonds.

4. Trust as the ultimate bedrock: Trust is foundational to any lasting leadership or relationship. It is earned through consistent actions, integrity, and treating people right.

5. The necessity of a forgiving spirit: Unresolved conflicts and grudges are primary sources of stress and emotional trouble. Developing a forgiving attitude frees people from guilt and clears the path for positive interactions.

6. Shifting focus from self to others: To connect with people successfully, you must move away from worrying about how you appear and focus instead on how you make them feel. Empathy and putting others first are vital.

7. Grace under pressure and resilience: Standing out or leading will inevitably draw criticism. Resilient leaders control their responses rather than taking harsh remarks personally, displaying grace under pressure and earning lasting respect.

“The basis of life is people and how they relate to each other. Our success, fulfillment, and happiness depend upon our ability to relate effectively.” — John C. Maxwell

Which of these seven principles do you feel is most challenging to practice in everyday life?

GOD IS STILL LOOKING FOR A VOICE. 🔥

Like Samuel, may we learn to recognize His voice and respond, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:10)

In a world full of noise, God is still calling. The question is: ARE WE LISTENING?
