WNBA team reveals new ‘non-binary’ turtle mascot

Okay WNBA… we see you.

Meet Dez, a snapping turtle who uses she/they pronouns, is described as calm and clever, is a Ta**us, AND DJs in their spare time. Naturally, social media has already dubbed Dez a potential “MASCcot.”

Then there’s Dot, an energetic Arctic hare, Gemini, cotton-candy lover, and the hype woman of the duo.

And because the internet cannot leave well enough alone, people immediately started wondering whether Dez and Dot might be more than friends. According to the Toronto Tempo, though, they’re officially “besties.” 👀 Sure, Toronto.

We love seeing q***r representation pop up in unexpected places, even when it comes in the form of a DJing snapping turtle. (Them⁠)

📚Our first WMLA Book Club was a success!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out tonight for our very first meeting! We had such a great time getting to know each other, talking books, laughing, and officially choosing our first WMLA Book Club read!

📚 WMLA Book Club is TONIGHT!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone tonight for our very first WMLA Book Club Meet & Mingle!

- Orchard House Books & Café – Grand Rapids
- We’ll be meeting in the Green Room
- 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Tonight will be pretty laid-back. We’ll spend some time getting to know each other, talk about what we’d like our book club to look like, go over our three book options and vote on our first read, and start planning our next meeting.

There’s nothing you need to read or prepare beforehand. Just come hang out, meet some new people, and help us kick off WMLA Book Club! ☕📖
