Today, October 8th, we celebrate le***an visibility, love, history, and the incredible women who helped pave the way for our community.

As we recognize LGBTQ+ History Month, we’re taking a moment to honor some of the trailblazers who made a lasting impact.

These women remind us that le***an history is filled with courage, resilience, love, and people who refused to be invisible.

At WMLA, we’re proud to celebrate that history while continuing to build spaces where our community can connect, feel supported, and belong.

Here’s to the women who came before us, the women making a difference today, and the generations still to come. 🧡🤍💗

For those experiencing trans discrimination within LGBTQ+ spaces: there are pockets of the le***an community that are already doing the work. 🌈

West Michigan Le***an Alliance is building community for all le***ans —and I hate that I even have to say this, but trans le***ans are le***ans.

I’m tired of having to explain things that should be common sense.

We’re working to create a le***an community where people can connect without having to defend their identity or wonder whether they belong.

We can do better. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

📚 WMLA Book Club meets TONIGHT!

We’re getting together from 6:00–8:00 PM at Orchard House Books & Café for our second WMLA Book Club meeting! 🧡

Tonight we’ll be discussing our current read, Of Potions & Honey by Cara Delaney, sharing our thoughts, favorite moments, and everything in between.

Then it’s time for the fun part: choosing our next book! 📖✨ Our next selection will be the book we read together over the next 6 weeks.

New faces are always welcome, so even if you missed our first meeting, come join us!

Due to the expected rain, we’ve decided to postpone this Saturday’s Reeds Lake Community Nature Walk.

We’ll be announcing a new date soon, so stay tuned!

🌿🥾 WMLA Community Nature Walk is THIS SATURDAY!

A quick update for everyone joining us at Reeds Lake:

📅 Saturday, September 19
⏰ 6:00 PM
- Meeting outside the Grand Rapids Yacht Club, next to
Reeds Lake
- 4.2-mile loop

We’ll meet outside the Yacht Club, give everyone a chance to gather, and then head out on the trail together!

This is a relaxed community walk, so come as you are, wear comfortable shoes, bring some water, and enjoy an evening of fresh air, conversation, and community. 🧡

♿ Accessibility Note: We want everyone to feel welcome at WMLA events. If you have accessibility needs or questions about the route, pace, or participating in the walk, please send us a message. We’re happy to talk through what you may need and do our best to make the event accessible.

New faces are absolutely welcome! If you’ve been wanting to come to a WMLA event but haven’t yet, this is a great one to jump into.
