Rez Vet was contacted by a friend in the Navajo Nation government shortly before we left for our September clinic to see if we could assist with an Elder who needed some help. This kind Elder has been caring for the animals that show up on her property, and the situation became more than she could handle. We were one of several groups that agreed to work together to help with the pups on her property.
On our first day of clinic, we went out to her home and were able to provide medical treatment to 16 puppies and 5 adult dogs. We administered vaccines and preventative treatments to all of them, and we were also able to neuter the two dogs our client intends to keep at our clinic. The other dogs will be going into rescues where they will be sterilized before finding their forever homes.
We are incredibly grateful that we were able to assist with this and we love seeing the rescue, foster, transport, shelter groups, and medical groups all working together to save these animals. Many of them have already been transported to rescue groups and the remainder will be following shortly. It’s so inspiring to see what we can accomplish when our rez groups work together!
