Where my Lab peeps at?

Finn is still in need of a home.

Remember his story from last weekend? His person passed away earlier this month, we were contacted, and hundreds of you shared his story. We spoke with or emailed with 10 people who raised their hands to take him in (some had too many stairs for this arthritic guy to manage, a couple had too many dogs to take one more and stay within the law, and some were living too far from vet care). We thought we had a likely adopter and a backup adopter. But as often happens in rescue, things fell through and we're on the search again. Finn is good with dogs and kids (unsure about cats), 13, a typical Lab lover boy, has arthritis, and hasn't had a good medical workup in some time so it would be ideal (though not absolutely essential) if the adopter were in or near Colorado Springs so we can use our trusted vets to get him as healthy and comfortable as possible. We will pay for his upfront medical costs to ensure he gets on the right pain medications and we discover any budding issues that might exist so we can take care of them. Thanks for all your efforts last week. Together we can make a happy ending for this gorgeous boy...we're sure of it. DM us and we'll set up a time to talk or offer more info.

💛Senior yellow Lab needs a retirement home ASAP 💛😭

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for the outpouring of love for this old guy--and the many people offering to take him into their hearts and homes. We've spoken with 6 people who have raised their hands and all are incredibly wonderful, but for various reasons--mostly that Finn's arthritis is worse than we'd thought and he can't do stairs--some were not not quite right for Finn, and all of them recognized that upon receiving additional details. We will continue to talk with people who raise their hands...in rescue you learn that sometimes what appears to be a great match doesn't quite work when the person and the dog (and the other pets the person has) meet, and we all just accept that. That said, we have spoken for a very long time with one Lab lover who has the right environment, safe for him, and one other Lab, and she's traveling from Colorado Springs to Nederland with that dog for Finn's first meet and greet, probably on Monday. Fingers crossed that Finn decides that this is the right person and right dog for him! Many thanks to the hundreds of you who have shared his story and the several who have made contact with us about adopting him. We very much appreciate you. This outpouring has been truly heart-warming. And we will continue to update you.
Up next: an oldish husky in need. We'll share his story this coming week.

Labrador lovers: Can anyone make room in your heart to help Finn, a lovely gentleman whose person died unpectedly (in her 60s) last week, leaving him without a person? Friends have stepped up to care for him but can't provide a permanent home. He's in Nederland (Boulder County), 13, and is said to be great with all people and dogs, as Labs generally are. If a solid adopter steps forward we will do as we always do with seniors we help usher into their second chances: we'll pay for his initial vet visit, vax updates, and dental if bloodwork confirms he can handle anesthesia. Let's see if we can find a way to make this guy's final years safe and happy. Reach out to us if you'd like to meet him and we'll get it set up. Thanks

Gandalf needs you!

Gandalf met his first small dogs (a Boston and a mini schnauzer) today and did so good. He was more confused than anything and gave them some sniffs before continuing on his walk. He is hoping to find his forever home soon! Please keep sharing this California transplant so he can live his best Colorado life!
