Introducing Our New Ink Bearer: Danica Running Hawk
We’re so excited to welcome 19-year-old Native American artist Danica Running Hawk to our team as part of our newly reimagined artist residency, Ink Bearer (formerly The Wandering Artist).

Danica, a Digital Media student at the University of Nebraska Omaha, brings a powerful blend of surrealism, abstract influence, and personal storytelling to her work. Her art explores memory, healing, and cultural expression—perfectly aligned with Ink Bearer’s mission to amplify voices through creative exploration.

This collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter, and we couldn’t be more honored to walk alongside her on this journey.

Rayne’s powerful presence and stunning musical talent brought such vibrant energy to our space — from her captivating performances to her creative spirit, she’s left a mark we won’t soon forget. 💫

🌙 The Sleepy Poet has always been about more than just books and secondhand treasures—it’s a dream built around storytelling, healing, and rural creativity.

Now, we’re proud to announce a new chapter:

🪶 Rural Ink Society, our future nonprofit organization, will officially launch in partnership with The Sleepy Poet.

Here’s how it all works:

✨ The Sleepy Poet will continue to grow as a creative business—a future bookstore, dry bar, venue, and alternative thrift store. It will remain run by the same team, offering cozy, curated experiences and a home for storytellers and artists alike.

🌾 Rural Ink Society will be our nonprofit extension, built to further our mission and expand our community impact. It will focus on:
• Free and low-cost creative workshops
• Healing through poetry, writing, and visual art
• Supporting rural storytellers, youth, and artists
• Public storytelling events and community art projects
AND SO MUCH MORE!
