On August 29th, The Guardian reported on the billions of dollars rich countries such as the United States spend on false technological solutions to the climate crisis. For many scientists, the government subsidizing nuclear power is one notorious example.

On this episode of the The Old Mole Variety Hour, I talk with physicist M. V. Ramana about his new book, "Nuclear Is Not the Solution: The Folly of Atomic Power in the Age of Climate Change." Ramana is a physicist and professor of public policy at the University of British Columbia. We discuss the arguments that he lays out in the book and what it means to work for a truly sustainable energy system. Ramana is also featured in Atomic Bamboozle: The False Promise of a Nuclear Renaissance. We will both be part of a webinar panel on September 30th following a month of free online screenings of the film on Eventive by the Sierra Club.

The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) is crucial for providing cancer screenings and compensation to communities harmed by US nuclear weapons testing and uranium mining. Without action, RECA will expire in just 2 days. We need YOUR help to pass a stronger RECA bill!

The government knowingly exposed people to unsafe levels of radiation by detonating hundreds of nuclear weapons. Congress has a responsibility to pass the strongest RECA legislation possible to ensure survivors receive proper compensation. The RECA bill we’re fighting for (S.3853) will:
