Elected officials down in Austin are trying to cut funding to our fire and police departments - and it doesn't seem like they want to hear what you have to say! Call on your State Representatives and State Senators and tell them to vote NO on SB 10.
This is a direct attempt to defund essential services in the City such as fire, police, quality of life improvements, streets, flood control, local courts, etc. Instead of cutting back on spending at the State level, legislators are saying the local services we use everyday that are funded by our property taxes are the problem. Meanwhile, the State is sitting on a $27,000,000,000 ($27 BILLION) "rainy day" fund.
Senate Bill 10 would lower the property tax revenue cap from 3.5% to 2.5% - a savings of roughly $1/month. The hit to local funding would prevent municipalities from keeping up with our fire and police needs.
Instead of helping cities keep up with growth, elected officials down in Austin are making it harder to protect our communities!
