One year ago, Trenton took his favorite girl to the Oncology Prom. It was one of his favorite events of the year—a night where kids facing cancer could simply be kids. They could dress up, dance, laugh, and forget about treatments, scans, and hospital stays, even if only for a few hours.

The heartbreaking reality is that some of the children who attended that prom last year are no longer here to attend this year’s event.

We have to do better.

Childhood cancer receives only 4% of federal cancer research funding. Our children deserve more. They deserve better treatments, higher survival rates, and the opportunity to look forward to next year’s prom without wondering who will be missing.

Today, we ask you to support childhood cancer advocacy. Write to your elected officials. Demand increased funding for childhood cancer research. Use your voice to help create change.

Our kids are worth more than 4%.

They deserve the chance to attend this special event year after year. They deserve a future filled with milestones, memories, and hope.

As we close out World Transplant Day, we encourage everyone to consider registering as an organ donor.

As Trenton’s friends begin getting their driving permits, I’m reminded of the milestones we won’t get to experience with him. Those moments can be difficult to think about, but I’m incredibly grateful for the milestones we were blessed to share and the memories we’ll carry forever.

Through the work of the Trenton Haney Memorial Scholarship, we strive to honor Trenton by helping other families create more memories and celebrate more milestones together.
