Please join me in congratulating our 2026 Youth Poultry Scholarship Winners!

1st Place Shaiah Lerner
2nd Place Emilyn Shupe
3rd Place Audrey Falcon

Our youth participants were required to Show Birds, participate in Showmanship, the Poster Contest and write a 500 word Essay.

All of the youth did a fantastic job and we are really proud of ALL of them, our Essay Judges greatly enjoyed reading the essays and said that choosing the winners was really tough this year.

And FYI a little birdie told me that next year the scholarship amount will be doubled!

People always complain about the fair being in the middle of molting season so we decided to run with it!
Each judge was asked to let me know when they came upon a bird in such a state of molt that they said What the Heck!
Once I had the list of top molters with the help of one of the board members a Champion was chosen!
The 2026 Molting Champion at the ODPA’s State Fair of Virginia was a Black Copper Marans Hen owned by Logan King.

We are so excited to announce that at our show at the State Fair this year you will be able to show your Emu’s!
We are flying over an official Emu Judge from Queensland Australia.
There will be a ring setup in the back corner of the tent and they will be led around on halters for the judging. So make sure you start halter training asap!
May the best Emu win!
