The Racial Justice Organizing Committee is a group of activists and advocates, working towards the abolition of white supremacy and racism in all of the ways it presents in our communities and schools. The goal of racial justice is not to simply reform our current society; the goal is to uproot white supremacy and plant the seeds for liberation and empowerment that will lead to a more just and equ
itable world. Our Ten Demands for Radical Education Transformation are foundational towards the vision of racial justice. The 10 Demands, as well as the larger fight for racial justice, will be achieved through purposeful action, building and strengthening relationships between all stakeholders, and continued self-reflection and education. Our current projects including:
Groceries for Philly - a monthly, pop-up grocery store that provides fresh produce, fresh meat, dairy, shelf-staples, baby care items, and personal hygiene products to communities in need. Anti-Racist Books Project - provides PreK-2nd grade teachers with 10 diverse books that can be used as classroom read-alouds. Teachers also receive a standards-aligned lesson guide for each text.
10 Demands for Radical Education Transformation - advocacy work layered in our beliefs that all children deserve high quality education in a safe and supportive school environment. Summer Reading Series - reading groups dedicated to social justice issues in order to build community between educators and community members in Philadelphia
Anti-racism Workshops - professional development and workshops for organizations hoping to begin their journey into anti-racist practices
Building Anti-Racist Schools - biweekly meetings to support educators in advocating for equity in their schools
