The June 2024 Citizen of the Month was Yvette Ramirez Angulo. For more than 23 years, Yvette has dedicated herself to serving our community through programs like Salvation Army Head Start, Angel Tree, local food assistance, Toys for Tots, and disaster relief efforts. Her compassion and commitment have made a lasting impact on countless families. Thank you, Yvette, for everything you do to make our community a better place!

If you know someone who goes above and beyond for the community, send a nomination and a brief description to [email protected].

In May 2024, we honored the late and great Tom Foster with Citizen of the Month. Known for his unwavering love for the town and his relentless work at Bullion Plaza, Tom Foster has since had a day named after him for good reason. Although he was in the hospital at the time of the award, Bunney Kessler accepted it on his behalf. We are grateful we got the opportunity to recognize him.

If you know someone who stands out for all they do for the community, send an email to [email protected] with a nomination and a brief explanation as to why they deserve it.

We are just so grateful for the growth we've seen this year. Today we supported Hope Bake House and gave some sweetness back to some of our supporters. We only have two photos but there are so many people that have helped us along the way. We see you, we acknowledge you, and we just want to say thank you ❤️🧁

The Madera Peak senior luncheon was a simple pizza party this month--- but it sure brought the smiles!

We love getting to give the seniors a day to gather, socialize, and get out and about. We run completely on volunteer help, donations, and fundraising (for a long while, we paid for most meals out of our own pockets). If you're interested in keeping the vision alive, consider volunteering or donating, we'd love your support!

Inquiries can be sent to [email protected] 🙏❤️🤗

In April 2024, we recognized Annie Villalobos for her outstanding service to this community. Even before having kids of her own, she was involved in helping the youth through coaching. Owner of a beloved restaurant today, she continuously donates and volunteers to many organizations throughout the area. She is a perfect example of a Citizen of the Month.

If someone you know is deserving of recognition, send a name and a brief explanation to [email protected].

Molly Cornwell Thompson was awarded Citizen of the Month in March 2024 and continues to demonstrate what it means to uplift the community. With well over a decade of seeing the potential of Globe and bringing the vision to life, our only regret is that we can't award Molly every single month! Catch her in the arts, warmly smiling while welcoming others, leading tours dedicated to history, inspiring events for families, leading initiatives to bring the community together, or just generally being Molly!

If you know someone who tirelessly and selflessly gives to the community, nominate them with a brief explanation of what makes them stand out. Email nominations to [email protected].

Reflecting on past Citizens of the Month, Charlene Giles continues to impress. Awarded in February 2024 as our third ever honoree, she continues to embody what being a good Citizen means. Whether grooming the community's fur friends, serving the city, baking cookies for donation, or jumping on machinery to clear blocked streets, Charlene hears a need and jumps to action.

If you know someone who is always ready to serve others and the community, nominate them at [email protected].
