Happy Earth Day everyone!

Fruitfully Yours provided farm to table culinary classes at the Spartan Garden of the Sandburg middle school and the culmination of those classes was a demonstration at the Earth Day festival this past weekend. Our theme for the culinary classes was ‘Cooking is a Superpower’ and we made recipes that encouraged the students to “eat the rainbow.”

At the Earth Day festival, we made a delicious citrus salsa with the in-season citrus which included blood oranges, pink Cara Cara oranges and Valencia oranges with vine-ripe tomatoes and buttery avocados.

A big thank you to the Spartan Garden and the Glendora Unified School District for inviting us another year for conducting these classes. We couldn’t have done these classes without our amazing elves McKenzie and Ixchel, so a big thank you to them as well.

As always, we had so much fun at the Glendora Earth Day festival yesterday. This is our eight year attending with our amazing volunteers from Glendora high school.

Thank you Ayan, Soraya, Somaaya and Kara for your hard work, the donors who provided us fruit for our booth and to the for inviting us each time.

To all the members of the community that especially stopped by our booth to say a thank you for what we did and how much they appreciated it, we want to say a big thank you too. You made our day! 😊

Sunshine, citrus, and a few too many mosquitoes today!

Today we continued with our citrus picks and harvested tangerines and oranges. It’s usually a relaxed, fun outing, but the mosquitoes had other plans and were swarming around our heads so much that we had to cut the trip short!

Still, we picked a good amount of fruit to donate to and to our friends at . We also enjoyed some sweet loquats that are in season. Quite buggy, but still a fruitful day!

A COMMUNITY IN ACTION
Our largest pick did not have the crazy amount of fruit we pick each year, yet so much fun. So blessed to have so many of you join us when we asked for your help. THANK YOU!

Thank you to the Regulators, which is the Glendora girls softball team, Shepherd’s Pantry for coming with their truck and crates to help us transport the fruit to the pantry to be distributed for those in need and our AMAZING TEAM that supports us all year round. We love you and are so blessed to have you!

Lastly, thank you to our donors Jim and his daughter Gina for making sure that their surplus fruit did not drop and for donating the crop!

The citrus season is in full spring and we picked the most beautiful blood oranges from a repeat donor, Ross Oswald in Glendora, last week. Blood oranges are full of anthocyanin pigments that give its color and make them rich in antioxidants.

We’re back at the Spartan Garden! 🌱👩‍🍳

After launching culinary classes with Glendora Unified School District (GUSD) at Sandburg Middle School last year, we were so excited to return for a 3-class series. The first class kicked off today with about 20 amazing students from local schools!

Today was all about cooking as a superpower 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ and training culinary superheroes in the making. Our theme? “Eating the Rainbow” 🌈—discovering how colorful fruits and veggies fuel our bodies and minds.

Huge thanks to our new FLY ambassadors Ixchel and McKenzie for their incredible energy and support. Couldn’t have done it without you! 💛
