A Haven for Us is a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals — especially those impacted by harmful policies, inequities, and discrimination.

Introducing our Community Microgrant Program! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

A Haven for Us will offer up to $500 in direct financial assistance to eligible LGBTQIA+ adults experiencing financial barriers. Funding can support needs related to housing, healthcare, gender-affirming care, education, transportation, and more.

For this October cycle, transgender and gender-nonconforming applicants experiencing financial barriers will receive priority. You do not need to be in a priority group to apply.

Applications are open October 1–21, 2026. Review the full guidelines and find the application at www.ahavenforus.org

October’s Trans Open Door is coming up! 🩵🩷🤍
Join us on Sunday, October 4 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET for “Coming Out on Your Own Terms.”

With National Coming Out Day approaching on October 11, we’ll use this meeting to talk about the many different ways coming out can look, and the fact that there is no single right way, timeline, or obligation to come out. Whether you’re out everywhere, only with certain people, still figuring things out, or choosing not to come out at all, your choices deserve to be respected.

We’ll explore authenticity, safety, boundaries, changing circumstances, and what it can mean to make decisions about disclosure on your own terms. As always, Trans Open Door is a peer-led space for connection, conversation, and community support.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. 🧡

Su***de prevention is an LGBTQIA+ issue. LGBTQIA+ people, especially transgender and nonbinary people, as well as q***r youth, experience disproportionately high rates of suicidal thoughts and attempts.

But these disparities do not exist in a vacuum. Acceptance, affirmation, access to care, and supportive communities can make a meaningful difference. This month, we encourage everyone to learn the facts, check in on the people around you, and help create spaces where LGBTQIA+ people are affirmed, supported, and able to access the care they need.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. Swipe through for crisis and peer-support resources, including The Trevor Project, Trans Lifeline, and 988.

You deserve to be here. You deserve support. You deserve a future.

If you already shop at Walmart or Ralphs, you can use their charitable giving programs to help fund our programs and services, without changing where or what you normally buy.

At Walmart:

- Choose to round up eligible online or app purchases at checkout.

At Ralphs:
- Link A Haven for Us to your Shopper’s Card through Community Rewards.

- Once you’re enrolled, simply use your card when you shop. There’s no additional donation or round-up required!

Tell us what you’re looking for, and our team will help identify trusted, LGBTQIA+ affirming resources that may fit your needs, including:

Grounded in his lived experience as a trans person of color, Zach brings a deep passion for community care and creating spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and connected. With an educational and professional background in human services and psychology, his commitment to collective well-being will be a meaningful addition to our leadership.
