Tonight, the Glendale Lions Club was inspired by a remarkable young woman, Aubrey Petersen, who shared her story with our club, embodying courage and resilience. 🌹
If you knew time wasn’t guaranteed, would you still live the same way?
My name is Aubrey Petersen, and I’m proud to represent Glendale and Kentucky as a whole as a State Finalist in National American Miss. Next month, I’ll travel to Nashville to compete for the chance to compete at nationals in Florida.
At first glance, this may look like a pageant journey—but for me, it’s much more than that.
I was born with a congenital heart defect and have already undergone three reconstructive heart surgeries. And I will one day need a heart transplant. For many people, that would bring fear or doubt, why even try?
But I chose to turn it into my reason to keep going.
That is why I will be standing on that stage, Not just for myself, but for every child in a hospital wondering if their dreams are still possible, for every young person with a disability who feels unseen, and for anyone who has ever been told they “can’t.”
You don’t have enough time.
Time is a limit for everyone, but for heart patients, time can feel shorter, and I refuse to let that become our limit,
That is why National American Miss means so much to me. It is a pageant that helps young women build confidence, leadership, communication, and community involvement. It encourages us to use our voices, serve our communities, and stand up for what we believe in.
Through this opportunity, I can turn my personal journey into a platform for advocacy and awareness.
I am currently seeking sponsors and donations to help support my pageant journey and advocacy work. Every donation helps me continue sharing my message and representing my community with pride.
Because this journey is bigger than a pageant.
It’s about turning pain into purpose, struggles into strength, and a story of survival into a story that gives others hope.
Thank you.
