FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. Announces Purchase of New Sutphen Fire Engine

Glen Rock, PA — The Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with Lawver Fire Apparatus for the purchase of a new Sutphen fire engine, marking another significant investment in the future of fire protection for Glen Rock and the surrounding communities.

The new apparatus is currently scheduled for delivery in the Spring of 2029 and will replace the department’s 2006 Sutphen S2 engine, which has faithfully served the company and community for more than two decades.

This purchase also continues a longstanding relationship between the Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. and Sutphen Fire Apparatus, a partnership that dates back to 1985. Over the past four decades, Sutphen apparatus have played an important role in the company’s fleet and emergency response capabilities.

The new engine will be designed and equipped to meet the evolving needs of the fire company and the community it serves. Once placed into service, it will provide firefighters with a modern, reliable apparatus capable of supporting fire suppression and other emergency operations for many years to come.

The Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. remains committed to responsibly planning for the future and maintaining the equipment necessary to provide dependable emergency services to our community.

We look forward to sharing additional information, specifications, and updates on the new engine as it moves through the design and production process.

The Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. had the privilege of welcoming members of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to our station last evening as they made a stop in Glen Rock during their journey.

It was our pleasure to open our doors and provide them with a place to take a well-deserved break, refuel, and recharge before continuing on their travels.

The mission of Tunnel to Towers—to honor the sacrifice of our nation’s first responders and military heroes and support their families—is one that holds special meaning within the fire service. We are proud to support those who continue to carry that mission forward.

Thank you for stopping in Glen Rock and allowing us to be a small part of your journey. We wish you safe travels as you continue on!

SYC Fire Camp 2026 has come to an end! Participants had 5 packed days of learning all about emergency services!

Day 1: Introduction. Students were taught what it takes to become a firefighter. They received an overview of the different types of apparatus.

Day 2: EMS Day. Students learned about all the what is carried on the ambulance and tested their skills with some of the equipment. They also learned Hands Only CPR thanks to RYNO Public Safety Solutions

Day 3: Demo Day. Everyone was able to put some of the tools they learned about to the test! Putting out fires, conducting search and rescue, and utilizing a variety of rescue tools, students were able to grasp better knowledge on how all operations come together during an emergency incident. A mid day break was taken to enjoy a refreshing treat from Gillice Italian Ice & Ice Cream.

Day 4: Field Trip! The day started with a stop at the York County Fire School to tour the training grounds and a live demonstration of how some of the props are used! We enjoyed lunch from Mission BBQ before traveling to York County 911, where they learned how a call for assistance is processed and sent to responders. We also visited with the County Of York Hazmat Team to see some of the equipment they use to mitigate hazardous materials incidents.

Day 5: FUN Day! To close out the camp, students participated in a number of events that brought together some of the things they learned throughout the week through friendly competition. Weather earlier in the week caused a change in schedule, and our friends from STAT MedEvac flew in to show the helicopter and talk all about the care they provide. We ended the day recognizing the campers for all their accomplishments throughout the week.

We would like to take a moment to thank the FF Chase Hartlaub Memorial Foundation for their generosity in sponsoring the camp this year. With their help, over 40 kids were able to gain experience in emergency services and help light a passion that will help them become the next generation of emergency responders!
