The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale is home to 60-70 singers from a variety of backgrounds. We hope to see you in our audience very soon!

Our goal is to enjoy and appreciate the gift we have in music, and to bring that gift to you in our concerts.

The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale continues its 40th anniversary season this spring with Anniversaries and Onward, with a celebratory concert honoring the chorale’s past while looking ahead to the next chapter of its musical journey. The concert is set for May 8 and features Songs & Sonnets composed by George Shearing. Other selections include, It’s Only a Paper Moon, Blue Skies and Let the River Run offering a powerful, uplifting close to the program. Click the link below for details:

With music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by Billy Rose and E.Y. Harburg, It’s Only a Paper Moon has long been a beloved standard, known for its playful charm and timeless message about love and imagination. In Kirby Shaw’s choral arrangement, the song’s jazz roots shine through with lively rhythms, colorful harmonies, and a lighthearted sense of swing.

Beneath its whimsical imagery, the text carries a sincere idea — that the world may feel make-believe or uncertain, but love has the power to make it real. Shaw’s setting captures both the fun and the warmth of the song, inviting singers and listeners alike to enjoy its humor while appreciating the tenderness at its core.
