💌 Card Shower for Constance & Family 💌
I need your help to lift up a family who means the world to me. Many of you may not know, but I have a 32-year-old “daughter” – let me explain! When I was 23, I coached a cheer team, and one of my girls, Constance, had a tough home life with her mother incarcerated. I took guardianship of her for about a year, and while life took her on a wild ride of overcoming childhood trauma, addiction, and young motherhood, she defied the odds and built a beautiful family. We still text on holidays, and she playfully calls me “Mom.”
I was devastated to learn that Constance and her family were in a horrific car accident that changed their lives forever. And the cause? A Stanley Cup fell into the driver’s floorboard and lodged under the brake. I can’t stop thinking about how freaky and “Final Destination” that is—now I put all my drinks in the backseat holders.
The crash left her husband, two of her children, and herself with devastating injuries. But the hardest blow? Her 11-year-old son, Kache, had to have a life-saving below-the-knee amputation after suffering unimaginable trauma to both legs.
Here’s what they’re facing:
🦿 Kache will need up to six prosthetic legs a year as he grows, each requiring specialized care and adjustments.
🏥 He has multiple medical appointments every week, including wound care, physical therapy, and prosthetic fittings.
💔 His father, also severely injured, is in a wheelchair and unable to work, leaving Constance as the sole provider while juggling her own recovery and caring for her family.
🚑 The medical costs are overwhelming, and insurance doesn’t cover everything they need to move forward.
