How It Works: Food Donors

Food Donors make giving simple.

Every two months, a Neighborhood Coordinator drops off a green bag, you fill it with nonperishable food over time, and then set it outside your front door on Collection Day. Your Coordinator picks it up and leaves a new empty bag so you can start again.

No meetings, no pressure, and no set amount to give — just give what you can, when you can.

How It Works: Neighborhood Coordinators

Neighborhood Coordinators are the heart of the Georgetown Neighborhood Food Project.

Every two months, they invite neighbors to fill green bags with nonperishable food, collect those bags from porches, and bring them to Collection Day so donations can be sorted and shared with local pantry partners.

It’s a simple way to help your neighborhood fight hunger together.

May Pickup Day Recap 💚

Our May Pickup Day was a huge success thanks to our amazing Neighborhood Coordinators, Food Donors, volunteers, and community partners! We collected over 4,400lbs of food!

Every green bag collected helps provide food for local families and shows what can happen when neighbors come together to care for one another.

Thank you to everyone who gave food, picked up bags, unloaded donations, sorted items, or helped make the day run smoothly. We’re so grateful for this growing community.

On Monday, we helped kick off the first meeting of a new Food Action Group in Georgetown with My Community Catalyst.

This group is designed to bring together community members, organizations, and leaders to openly discuss food insecurity, share resources, and collaborate on solutions to better meet food needs across our community.

The Food Action Group will continue meeting at The Carver Center for Families on the first Monday of every month from 12:30–1:30, and we would love to see more community members get involved. Whether you’re already working in this space or simply care about improving access to food, your voice matters.

We’re proud to be part of this group as we work alongside others to combat food insecurity across Central Texas. 💚

Join us at The Carver Center for Families in Georgetown as we aim to create a space where you can talk candidly about food insecurity and work alongside like-minded individuals to meet food needs in your community.

Access to food is essential to community health and navigating food access shouldn't have to be done in isolation.

Lunch will be provided. If you plan to attend our May 4th meeting, please comment below or email [email protected].

Our next Pickup Day is May 16th, and it’s not too late to get involved! 💚

Becoming a Neighborhood Coordinator or Food Donor is one of the easiest ways to give back. It only takes 1–2 hours every other month, and you’ll help provide a consistent supply of food for pantries in our community.

Whether you want to start a route in your neighborhood or leave a bag out on your porch, every role makes a real impact.

Last night we had the chance to step back and celebrate our amazing GNFP community. 💚

We brought together Neighborhood Coordinators, Pickup Day volunteers, board members, and pantry partners to reflect on an incredible first year, connect with one another, recognize outstanding contributions, and share some exciting updates for what’s ahead.

A huge thank you to for sponsoring the evening and providing such a great meal. We’re so grateful for your support.

And to everyone who makes this project possible: thank you! This work doesn’t happen without you, and we’re so proud of what we’ve built together. Let's keep working to fight food insecurity in Williamson County!

Happy Earth Day 🌎💚

At the Georgetown Neighborhood Food Project, sustainability is built into how we serve our community. When donated food reaches the end of its shelf life, we make sure it doesn’t go to waste by partnering with the Southwestern University Community Garden. They compost it and turn it into nutrient-rich soil that helps grow fresh food for Southwestern students.

It’s a simple way to reduce waste, care for our planet, and keep the cycle of giving going. 🌱
