Sometimes, it’s hard to tell at the beginning of a relationship if something might become unhealthy or abusive.

Someone who uses abusive behaviors may seem like the perfect partner at first. They might be charming, attentive, and make you feel like you’ve finally found your person.

That’s part of why recognizing dating abuse isn’t always easy. ❤️‍🩹

If something starts to feel off as the relationship goes on, trust yourself. You don’t have to ignore your feelings just because things seemed perfect in the beginning.

Most of us know someone who has experienced domestic violence, even if we don’t know their story.

Someone who may be experiencing abuse.
Someone who may not be ready to talk about it.
Someone who may not know what support they need.

You don’t need to have all the answers to support someone. Sometimes, letting them know they’re not alone is a place to start. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, The Hotline is available 24/7.

🔎 Let’s Talk About Domestic Violence (DV)
Domestic violence isn't just physical. It can also be:
💬 Verbal – constant criticism, yelling, name-calling
🧠 Emotional – manipulation, gaslighting, isolation
💵 Financial – controlling money, restricting access to resources
📱 Digital – stalking, controlling social media, demanding passwords
🙅 Sexual – pressuring or forcing unwanted sexual acts
🚨 Abuse is NEVER your fault.
Victims often feel isolated, ashamed, or afraid to speak up — but help is available.

💜 34% of people who are injured as a result of intimate partner violence (IPV) receive medical attention for their injuries.

Behind every statistic is a real person whose life has been impacted by violence.

Raising awareness matters. Knowing the signs, believing survivors, and connecting people with support can make a difference.

No one deserves to be hurt by someone they love.

Domestic violence can cost survivors more than their sense of safety—it can cost them their jobs.

Missing work due to injuries, court dates, relocation, or safety concerns can lead to job loss. Victims should not be punished for surviving abuse. 💜
